#2 and undefeated in Football - playing for the NC.
#2 and undefeated in Basketball, and looking every bit worthy of that ranking.
#1 in Baseball, and returning all 3 (main) starters from last year.
Chest, also our Men's Swimming and Diving Team are rated No. 1 in the CSCAA Coaches' Poll and our Women's Swimming and Diving Team are rated No. 4 so there may be possible NCs in those sports. Also I think our Men's tennis team should also challenge. Plus our Women's volleyball team was so close to an NC this year losing only to a great dynasty in a very close game in the NC game.
It is good to be a Horn something I can't claim since I didn't get to go to UT but I have been a fan for over 50 years and can say it is good to be a Horns' fan.
I don't put too much stock in Collegiate Baseball Magazine's polls. Their preseason #1 last year was Texas A&M and in 2008 it was UCLA - both of whom ended the season unranked.
It's also not uncommon to see teams move 8-9-10 spots in a single week. Last year there was a team (I don't remember who) that dropped 17 spots and another who dropped out of the top 30 from #13.
No doubt Texas has the pitching and some offense returning, but they lost 3 of the 4 infield starters. IMHO there are too many question marks to have them that high. That being said just about every publication I have read has them in Omaha in 2010.
Here's hoping they are there. I want to see the Horns play in the last CWS at Rosanblatt. I was in Omaha a couple of weeks ago and the new stadium looks nice, but it's no Rosenblatt.
