I'm thrilled that Austin Wood pitched as well as he did. He may just end up being one of the top pitchers in the conference.

I'm also thrilled that we got clutch hitting from Preston Clark, because we'll definitely need that from our upperclassmen to get back to Omaha.

What I'm most happy about is the work of Kyle Walker. Frankly, the only part of his stat line that I care about is BB's = 0. He got ahead in the count on nearly every batter he faced and that's the most important thing with him. If he throws with accuracy, he could be one of our most potent weapons.

Woods was really sharp initially, no hits through four innings. Seemed to lose focusness, probably tired somewhat, the next two innings.

one thing's for sure - UT's web presence is still embarrassingly inadequate.

i couldn't get the web updates until after 3pm and never got the "texassports.tv" feed to work.

otherwise, great game. nice outing by wood.

i was busy at work until about 4:20, but when I watched from that point it was all pretty good. That is where I saw Danks' catch.

I think Walker would have to face a hitter who is the potential tying run, or the potential tying run would have to be on deck in order to earn a save. Regardless of score the scorer can also award a save to a reliever who finishes the game by pitching 3 or more innings, if they deem the effort to be of sufficient quality.
