Who would be interested in a beer nerdery, er, tasting session at the Flying Saucer this Saturday afternoon, say about 2:30 p.m., May 24th, 2008?
If we have several interested, I will call and see if we can get a private room, and some tasting expertise, possibly an educational presentation or such. They will bring out samples in small glasses for tasting, so we could try several black ales, rate them, pass out, etc.
What better way to spend Saturday afternoon?

I shouldn't speak for him, but mrmyke, the resident beer guru, should be in attendance, so that makes five so far, with the two posters above, myself and ms. accurate. The time could be moved if several could only come later, but mrmyke suggested around that time, so that is why I tried that hour.

I might be able to come down for this. I still have only the three beer on my UFO, so I could add to that. Keep us posted on the possibility ...

I wish I could come down!! That sounds like as much fun as going to aggieland on Friday night with a blow up sheep!!

I had a previous post, the "Beers to try List". I moved it up next to this post, to make it easy to find. These are Beers that have been recommended by the Hornfans board. It is an impressive selection, I hope you will try a couple.

Read the comments on the brews in the posting. Try a couple, and figure out for yourself whether you like your beer Hoppy, Malty, or just regular old Bud Light. These beers will open your eyes to a whole new dimension of sight and sound. You may have just entered the Beer Twilight Zone!! Wish I were there.... Have one for me!

OK, stopped by the Flying Saucer for lunch, informed them of the impending visit by 98 HornFans regulars on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Actually, this is not a busy time, like a Friday happy hour visit, so if there are only five or six, we just show up, but I will call ahead for a table if there will be 10 or more.
They will accomodate any sampler combinations we want to conjure up.
They have a web site, which I haven't checked, but I assume lists their menu and beer selections-it isThe Link

OK, I am definitely going to be there by 2:30 tomorrow, Saturday, May 24th. Probably in the room with the couches and stuffed armchairs-I hope we have several other attendees.
Should be fun.
I will take a legal pad for notes, comments, ratings, gripes, etc. for a post mortem thread should I recover enough to achieve moderate coherency at some later date.

The beer was good, the darts were accurate (at least when I threw them) and overall it was a really good time. Thanks for putting it together. I'll look forward to next time.

I also enjoyed it, especially since it led to an impromptu road trip to OKC for the Big12 tourney finals, won by the Horns.

I will definitely want to attend another one, and maybe the next time I won't be unavoidably detained.

I believe a good time was had by all, will post notes of the various beers tried-but beware of dart sharks at HornFans beer tastings.
Should we do it again in about one month-I think Sunday afternoon was suggested over Saturday afternoon for the next tasting?

Sorry I missed it. I got neck deep in a studio cleanup, and that's not something that's all that easy to drop (nor should one do so without a shower).

I found the Anchor Old foghorn and the Maredsous 10 to be excellent! Many others were very good. I look forward to the next gathering.
