San Pedro and Oblate. I think that's the street. It is where the Maverick Cafe used to be.

I used to work for Hoover when he ran Good Eats Cafe's. I know a lot of the employees that work at the Hoover's on Manor Rd.

I am not trying to be negative about this and I am really counting the days until the North store opens. However, I was told by someone at the Manor store that any prediction on the opening date is just a guess. The COA has been making them jump through hoops and slowing/stopping their progress at every turn. I was told on December 28th that the 183 store would be opened "in two weeks".

Hopefully the March 13th date wil come true, but I am just saying that you may want to temper your enthusiasm.

Called and confirmed - they're opening at 4 pm today.

I live about a mile from the new location. I'm putting the over/under for my weight gain at 75 pounds.

I went in at 5:30 on opening night and it was as good as the original. They went on a wait within 3 hours of opening their doors. Everyone I heard was thanking managers and staff for opening a store up north. I will be back tomorrow night and many, many, more.

I went to the one by highland mall. It was not what I expected.

I, too, was there at about 7:45 on opening night. The wait was about 15 minutes. Food was just like the original.

The SA location closed over the Christmas holidays. A call to their phone number a couple of months ago reached a recording that indicated that they'll reopen in SA at a new location. There is no mention of SA on their website regarding the old or a new location.

Ate at the new 183 location yesterday evening.

The CFS was just average, and was a smaller lunch-sized portion. The gravy was not that good, the fries average.
The tomatoes in the salad were subpar (half yellowed).
Service was pretty good.

That was our first trip to any Hoover's, and it did not live up to the hype I've read here about the other one y'all have talked up for several years.

We'll wait a while before giving it another try.

Don't worry, Hoover's is the most overrated restaurant in Austin, with Guero's being a close second.

The same goes for Dirty's burgers - they sucked 40 years ago, and still do.
