Honeymoon in Mexico or Carib

Getting married in June and we will probably decide on a honeymoon location in Mexico for travel and cost reasons.

Any good suggestions on places to stay or places to avoid? Pacific side is preferable due to nonstop flights from LAX.

Looked at a bunch of places in Cabo, and neither of us have been down there, but many talk about not being able to swim in the ocean for safety reasons. Future wife would prefer to swim in the ocean.

Or should we just say screw it and spend the extra time and money to go to the Caribbean?

LAX has non-stops to Tahiti as well but we're not dropping that kind of coin on this trip since we just spent 3 weeks in Italy this past fall.

Thanks.

Hey congrats man, good for you. Honestly, I think Cabo is much better suited for a bach party than for a honeymoon. If I was going to honeymoon south of LA, I would look for a secluded staffed house or small resport outside of one of the tourist towns for sure. I don't really think any of the big properties in Cabo or on the corridor would be special enough for your trip.

Again congrats, have a great trip no matter where. If you want to spend the coin on location rather than airfare you could always head north for Post Ranch or inland for Two Bunch Palms, a couple of great romantic spots.

Cabo is by far not a party town. Bachelor party in Cabo? What do you do? Hit the bar with the 'show'? It's the same show (can't remember the name of the place) every night. Cabo Wabo? Good for one night.

We did our honeymoon in Cabo and stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda which is in about 5 miles from Cabo San Lucas. It was awesome. Think Scottsdale with an ocean view. Same prices too (ie, don't think MEX is cheap).

We had a great time though.

I will say that the currents are rough but not if you go to the public beach at Playa Medano in town. Go to the Office (bar on the beach) or Mango Deck (next to Office). Playa Medano is swimmable easily.

Hawaii is not going to be much more and is an exponentially better choice, especially if you are willing to make the trek over to the Caribbean.

I went to Cancun for a bachelor party back in October and stayed at the Omni Resort... it was very unswimmable. Apparently that big last hurricane really eroded the beach pretty bad.

we decided to go to a resort in NW Costa Rica instead on the rec of a friend who honeymoon'd there a couple years ago. thanks for the replies.
