Wedding is in mid-May, would like something with a beach/tropical (but open to other suggestions), and not too crazy money-wise.

So far I've looked at The Atlantis in the Bahamas, and it looked pretty sweet. My only fear there is that it looks like it might be a little too family oriented, we want more of an adult crowd.

What else ya got?

I think the Atlantis is definitely a family crowd, and every time you have a drink/meal, you will have a small coronary at the size of the bill. Their prices are absolutely absurd.

I have had a few friends honeymoon the Dominican Republic lately. The flight isn't too cheap but once you get there it's supposed to be really nice and restaurants and everything are reasonably priced.

Going to St John in February.

decided on the Westin over Caneel Bay. Im not much for laying around doing nothing but laying around on a beach...But if thats your thing, then Caneel would probably be a better fit.

Looked at Little Dix(supposed to be awesome) but it was something like 1200-1300 a day for the honeymoon package and I ddint want to make my Dad pay that...

I'm getting married in June and we are going to Maroma Resort and Spa in Playa del Carmen the first week and Excellence Playa Mujeres the second week. We thought about Maui but we wanted to leave at 8AM and be on the beach at 1PM.

We won free tickets on American Airlines and are going to La Samanna Resort and Spa in St. Martin for Thanksgiving.

I'm a huge fan of Orient Express Hotels.

Went here a couple years ago in Costa Rica. We were the only couple not honeymooning, or having an wedding anniversary trip.
Good deals, and really nice. Very laid back and there's a really good local bar/restaurant just outside that's dirt cheap and great.

Hawaii is beautiful and would obviously make for a great honeymoon, but I've been there twice, so I'd like to experience something new. The links above look spectacular as well. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I second avoiding the Atlantis. It will be packed with families and little kids, not romantic. Here is my advice, go on a shorter honeymoon, e.g 3-4 nights to a really nice place rather than spend a week at a moderate place. Everyone I know who went on a week long honeymoon was bored towards the end of it.

Or ya'll can walk the suspension bridge and waltz through Cameron park after the Dr. Pepper museum!

The wife and I are headed to Fiji before we have children.

if you do puerto rico, do 1 day on the main island (san juan and el yunque) and then get your butts over to the small islands of culebra and vieques. the beaches on culebra are the best i've ever seen....

any thoughts on the sandals resorts in St. Lucia versus Nassau. my fiance has narrowed it down to those two. roughly the same price and will either be at the Regency in St. Lucia or the Bahamian in Nassau.

any advice is appreciated. thanks!

I suggest...BED...for about a week. Then settle in to your routine...work, school, all of the normal stuff. Plan your trip for six months down the road when you are more likely to get your money's worth.
