I'm not flaming the board, honestly. I just need some guidance here. UT has a nationally prominent Baseball program with NC's in '02 and '05 and RU in '04. So I would assume that UT Baseball fans have higher expectations from their club than other, less prominent programs.
Here at Ole Miss, without starting a debate on the semantics of terminology, we (the fans and alumni) view our selves as a program of national recognition and emerging relevance. In the last 5 years we've been an almost team with regards to Omaha. Hosting regionals or Supers and coming within a win of the Goal several times.
Now to the meat of the question. At what point are we the fans supposed to become angry or upset about the fact that we have (arguably) one of the strongest lineups in the country top to bottom, but fail to make use of that talent and end up either folding under pressure at the moment it it MOST important, or (like this season) vomiting on ourselves in midweek games and series with ranked opponents.
Some fans on our message board call me cynical, or fair weather, or unfaithful b/c I am angry at our team for underachieving so drastically. My point of view is that as a fan, I DEMAND that we handle this pressure, play to our capability and win some D**N games!!!! We have the tools, the coaching and the facilties to compete with any program in the country, am I wrong for getting upset when we don't live up to expectations? Or am I correct in assuming that after 5 years of building, it's time to s**t or get off the pot?
Please help....
