Honda Accord problem

My 1998 Accord has 175,000 miles and lately there is an intermittent problem. When I brake and get close to stopping the engine seems to be ideling too fast and as a result the car will stop with a jolt. I had the car into Honda 3 times and it would not fail. They said if it was a sensor in the transmission there was nothing they could do. Any ideas????

What Texanne said. If you live in or around Austin you need to take it to Accuratehorns shop. I vouch for him and I know a few others here would too. Don't tell him but I am uber impressed with his car knowledge. He is brainy.

I made a deal with God several years ago about when to get rid of my 1992 Honda Accord. That I would go out one day put the key in the ignition and if the doors all fell off, that was my sign that it was time to buy a new car. The car now has 307,000 miles on it, gets 33mpg and the AC will freeze your *** off.

Whenever I valet park, the valets always look at me like WTF???

You got me beat, my 92 Accord only has 254,000 miles on it. It's rattles like hell, makes all kinds of noises, burns some oil but keeps running. I'm waiting for something less catastrophic than a door falling off to tell me that it's time to move on. It really is a POS at this point but I couldn't get a dollar for it if I tried to sell so I guess I'll keep driving it.

We are going to look at the Accord when she has time to leave it-hopefully it will act up while here-intermittent problems without a check engine light code can be a problem.

speaking of window regulators, the next time a window regulator breaks on my car, can I have a manual window put in instead? how much labor 1 or 2 hours?
