I recently saw a documentary, "Training Rules", about Rene Portland, the former coach at Penn State, and the former player who filed suit against her for discrimination. It was known among some that Portland had a rule that no lesbians would play on her team. The film had interviews from a number of former players who described what it was like to try to play basketball in that kind of poisoned atmosphere. It also reviews the attitude of some of the successful (read money-making) large schools toward this type of behavior by their athletic staff. Interestingly, Jen Harris, the player who filed the suit (which was settled out of court) was not gay. The film is available for instant streaming via Netflix.
