I'm about 4,500 miles away, so I'm not going to make it, but...
When I was growing up my block had a 4th of July Picnic at someone's house every year. My father would make plain ol' vanilla ice cream and every year it was a hit.
Now I'm in Buenos Aires and there are ice cream stores all over the place. Homemade stuff (or "artesanal") is everywhere. I think the secret to making the best ice cream possible is using the fattiest cream you can find.
I think in the States the ice cream is a little healthier and therefore has less fat in the cream.
I think that I'm going to go out and get a litlte ice cream right now.
