Anyone using Playstation Home? I was tinkering around with my kids on it this week and had a few thoughts. First off what is the point of it actually? It seems like the Sims but without any goals. Second was I am not sure this is safe for young kids. Which is related to my third idea. It would seem a pretty easy way for guys to hook up with girls from wherever, if there are any on there.

Yeah, me and some others from TEX have been messing around with it (in an attempt to break our despondency over CoD: World @ War).

I'm still not sure what to make of it, the mini-games are nice but there's no way in hell I'm paying for furniture or clothing for my "cyber" life. I play to avoid being surrounding by hormonal teenagers at a mall and redecorating to suit the wife's whims...not recreate the experience in my living room.

As for your latter two points, I agree on both. The language is plenty salty and I've noticed an abundance of females (or female wanna-bes), more than I've ever seen in a game, my theory is that it's an attempt to lure more male users.

But other than offering a gathering place for teams/ clans to meet up b4 entering a game I don't see the point. Maybe I'll come around but for now it's just a time waster.

It's supposed to be sort of like an 3D interactive myspace/facebook. Ideally, you log on, hang around in arcade or courtyard or whatever, and meet "cool" people add them to your friends list and go off and play Resistance or Killzone, etc.

Maybe once it gets it's legs under it, it'll eventually be something like that, but the last time I was there it was a mess. And charging real money for virtual furniture really... boggles my mind.
