Home Audio Installation

Does anyone know of a good home audio installer in Houston? My system seems to have grown beyond my limited capabilities, and I would like to have someone come out for a couple of hours and get it set up correctly. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know anyone I could recommend in the Houston area. If you are just talking setup, you are probably going to pay more than you should with anyone. It might be of benefit to just surf around on the internet and get information on your own. You will probably end up knowing more than most of the people that come out to set it up anyway. **** like that costs more now and the people that do it know less. My uncle lives in Tomball and had someone come out and tell him he shouldn't get a surround sound receiver because playing CDs wouldn't sound right since CDs are only 2 channel stereo sound. It is rediculous some of the things you hear from these people.

Actually, I agree, and I'm not completely ignorant in setting up stereo systems. The biggest problem I have is setting up the second (outside) zone for my receiver. The original remote broke, and for some reason, you have to have the remote to set it up. I bought a harmony remote and downloaded the information, but where I might spend 4-5 hours getting things set up, if someone can fix it in 1-2 hours, I figure its money well spent.

I know that there are some dumbasses out there that don't know any more than I do...the first people I had try to fix the problem had no clue...so I'm definitely going to be there and run through everything to make sure it works the way I want it to.

Things were much easier before 7.1, multizones, PVRs, etc. I actually would like to learn it all, but I'd much prefer to take a class than to spend hours searching the internet where you may or may not get good information.

I agree. You just never know where to get what you want, or more importantly what you need. People charge more and know less in just about every service industry now. Granted, things are sometimes more complicated, but if there is anyway I can learn how to do it on my own, that is what I am doing. One way that I can sometimes get the information that I want and not have to pay for it is calling Crutchfield sales. I sort of tell them what I want to do and act as though I am interested in buying everything from them. Then I ask to speak to someone about how difficult the install/setup is and have them tell me everything that I would need to do. They are usually the most helpful with the tough tech questions, as their business is set up for do-it-yourselfers. You might try calling them and see if you can get the info you need. There number is at the top of their webpage.
