Holdsclaw's Return

Am I the only one who finds Voepel's articles to lean toward the negative side? The Link

When Texas beat Tennessee there was more of a hint in her article that Tennessee lost the game rather than Texas winning. And this article on Holdsclaw just seems to be mean spirited to me.

I would assume that Holdsclaw, much like Delle Donne, has much deeper reasons for separating from basketball than we will ever know. I realize that pro athletes are public figures, but Holdsclaw hasn't even played another game and Voepel is already hinting at the possibility of failure.

I'd say this is a pretty reasonable blog. In every other paragraph she was somewhat hopeful or apologetic about her comments and Holdsclaw's future career.

It seems that she was only pointing out the obvious that considering Holdsclaw's circumstances with death, other family issues and depression causing basketball to be a burden it doesn't look good.

Let's hope that Holdsclaw is putting herself in a good situation. IMO, so is one of the greatest college players to ever hit the court and I have missed getting to see her demonstrate her talents.

Seemed a very well reasoned article to me. Holdsclaw is/was one of the best talents to ever play the game. But her recent history does tend to make her return a questionable matter. It would be much easier to be positive if she were coming back from a physical injury. Mentally, not just the deaths and other family issues, but the stressors that can negatively impact her ability to manage her depression could make this not the best path for her to follow.

Hopefully, we will get to see her blossom in Atlanta. I wish her the best and look forward to seeing her play this summer.
