Hilton Head Island

I need some help with an upcoming trip to Hilton Head Island, SC. This is my first stop on my trip up the east coast and I'm not sure what to except.

I was flying into Savannah; however, I may have a change of plans and fly into the Hilton Head Airport. Anyone have a preference on which airport is better to fly into? If I fly into Hilton Head, I would be connecting first in Charlotte. How’s that airport?

Also, does anyone have some suggestions on a good place to eat in Hilton Head? I’m looking for something with a fun atmosphere and good food. Most the time we’ll be staying at the resort, but want to experience the area during the evening.

Anything will help.

there's a Disney resort there, so I assume there's a good restaurant on that property.

Fly into Savannah. It is a pretty drive from there, not that far, and you will avoid the oversized Piper Cubs they use to fly people to the Hilton Head airport from either Charlotte or ATL. Unless you have your own jet - on any given weekend the Hilton Head airport looks like a Lear convention.

I’m going to keep my original itinerary and fly into Savannah. I’ll going to stay there for a day as well.

I’m staying at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa, so I’m also going to ask the concierge of some good places to eat.

I just got back from the east coast and wanted to say thanks for the help regarding Hilton Head Island. I’m glad I flew into Savannah since it was nice to spend some time there as well. I really enjoyed Savannah, but absolutely loved Hilton Head.

For anyone looking to hit up the beach, I would suggest going here and staying at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort. The area and beaches are beautiful and lots to do in the area. Great food and tons of shopping if you like that sort of thing, but the beaches alone are worth the visit. Plus, if you are easily amused like me, it was pretty cool to see all the sand dollars and starfish in the tide pools during low tide.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I've always liked that part of the country.

What did you think of Savannah? We were thinking of going there in the next few months.

I loved Savannah and would strongly suggest going. Such as the case with Hilton Head, there are a lot of different things to do in Savannah and it is beautiful.

We ended up getting some good advice from a local as soon as we left the airport on what to do and where to go. We went to The Crystal Beer Parlor for lunch. Good, simple food with cold beer is always a good thing for me. Plus, there is a lot of history surrounding this place.

Also, if you will be there for a few days, I would suggest going to Tybee Island. The Tybee lighthouse is cool to see as well since it dates back to I believe the late 1700s.

Honestly, we needed a lot more time in Savannah, but from the parts we visited, I would definitely recommend going.

Also, for some reason you run out of things, Hilton Head Island is only about 45 minutes away and the drive is nice too.
