Hilton- Austin downtown

i've seen some recomendations around here in the past on this place and perhaps I just caught it on a bad weekend but I was not impressed.

spent Fri and Sat night there this weekend after getting a decent price through priceline. The lobby is nice, but the room was nothing special. The bartender at the lobby bar was an *******. Had went in there after the UT game to down my sorrows and he was just being a dick to people. Someone asked him to put one of the flatscreen TV's on another game and he blurted out something about "if you want a sports bar - Champions is just right across the street"

The breakfast at their normal restaurant this morning was horrible- coffee was maybe the worst I have ever tasted - lol. The service was even horrible. We had to get the manager just to come pick up our credit card to pay the check...the waiter kept ignoring us.

Oh--the fire alarm in our room last night keep beeping for a low battery and we couldnt get it off the wall to shut it down...so needless to say it was annoying all night. Was so tired and drunk that tried to sleep through it rather than have someone come up to our room at 2 in the morning...get out of bed...get dressed...etc. Told the front desk first thing this morning and they didnt even seem to care it kept us up on and off all night. I mean a credit for last night or something would have been in order for something that was their problem.

Thank God for Trulucks...what a great meal that was

you should have told the front desk about the alarm when they could remedy the problem.

stayed there last yr. you are right about the lobby, very nice. ok experience overall for me.

and on the alarm thing, your bad for not calling them at the time. kinda like eating a big meal at a restaurant then telling the server something was wrong with it afterward. apparently it wasn't too messed up or else the customer would have taken action.

i've stayed there a lot since i work for the company. you definitely want to try and get a corner room. they are WAY bigger. it's a decent hotel. never had a problem. there are others i prefer in austin, as it seems like the full service Hiltons are always trying to nickel and dime me for every little thing. that really annoys me.
