Highlights of Recruit QB Garrett Gilbert

Good poise and pocket presence. Got the arm, can run, agile. Pretty damn good feet too. This kid looks the part, that's fo sho!

I'm not saying he's as good or will be anywhere near the level, but when he runs he sorta reminded me of Elway. I would have liked to seen more deeper passes to get a sense of his range, but I forget that he was just a soph in that vid. Looking forward to seeing more for sure.

Poise is the word I would use, too. He has real good "feeling" for when to get rid of the ball, and he is accurate. Way more than you would expect from a kid this age. I think he will be a great QB for the Horns.

I thought he was going to be a senior this year? Where are his Junior season highlights?

I met him at the Austin Sports Commission luncheon yesterday and he is every bit of 6'3". Definitely an inch or two taller than his dad.

ok. i'm gonna get it. but here it goes: yawn. looks good, not great. 5 star? i guess. just like Chance Mock when i saw him play. He's lucky he's playing in HS. that 5.0 flat speed is not going to be good enough in the big 12- now that Mizzou,
CU and KS(what the hell?) are picking up steam. he has potential, but unless we are talking RS Jr. i dont see the 2nd comming of VY, Chris Simms or even Richard Walton. We need some depth quick. I don't see explosive plays, i don't see ESP reads of complex def., i don't see perfect touch passes. Good prospect- sure. Next big man behind center as a true Soph.? No, not by that tape, not for a while. has the tools but i don't know if Greg D. will form the offence around them or try to make him conform to the offence.

Look, I'm glad he's coming to TX. Glad to have a quality QB like him in the backfield. Maybe I'm spoiled, but i just don't see the hype. I've seen him play live twice and my impres.: - good, not great- yet. Good size, good foot work, solid passes. I'm sorry- I'm just not blown away by this guy. Our O needs a true run option passer (Pryor/Shepherd).

I'm behind him, he's a horn- hope he has a great work ethic.

Your spelling of "offence" is offensive - along with your whole rant.

Perhaps his junior year stats are more your cup of tea?

looks like he puts his entire upperbody behind his throws when he's trying to zip them in there. Just an observation.

These are the only highlights I've seen of him.

To be honest, he reminds me a lot of Colt.

He is an adequate runner, but not one that will strike fear in a defense.

He has a good arm, and great pocket presence. Good poise, and throws well on the run.

That is exactly how I would describe Colt.

He looks bigger than Colt though, and since those highlights are from his soph season, I imagine his arm will get better.

He is certainly not the next VY, but I don't think anyone will be.
