Nehemiah Hicks TE/DE from Hutto has verbaled to the Aggies over other offers from OU, Tech, Okla. St., Minnesota, Nebraska and others. Per rivals as posted on TexAgs.

My personal opnions:

A&M is up to 16 commits!

With still no five star players committed?

With still only one four star player committed?

And TU has 17 four and five star players committed?

If Sherman finishes up the rest of the class with only low ranked leftover commits., the quantity will help falsely inflate our recruiting ranking?

If Sherman finishes up the rest of the class with only low rankng leftover commits, it will do nothing to stop all the blow out losses, we suffer?

Concluding that at A&M, we just suck!

I never thought Sherm would beat out OU, TTech, & OkSt on any recruit but he's done it with several of these guys. He is actually doing a great job considering what he is working with. Of course aggy will bastardize his small improvements and expect 10 wins in 2010 and a NC or 2 out of this class.
 
Your staff is betting they can take guys with upside and turn them into a good team, which is actually a good strategy if they can coach. Beggars can't be choosers. Take what you can get, and hope your staff can whip them into an eight or nine-win a year team. From there you can challenge for four-stars, and the occasional five-star.
 
I seriously doubt A&M "beat out" OU & NU for this guy. Kids put down lots of "offers" they supposedly have from big-name schools. That doesn't gauge level of interest, or even that a player like Hicks was even being actively recruited by those programs.

I guess Sherm is filling out his roster with 3-* recruits before they all commit to Baylor or Tech, but given the Aggies' facilities & amount of money they spend, he should be chasing bigger fish, IMO.
 
I read this thread headline very early this morning before I was completely alert and for a split second thought this was about Jordan hicks. But then I remembered aggy sucks and could never land an oos stud like Jordan.
 
Hicks is a solid player. He had legit offers/interest from 75% of the B12 and is the kind of player that a top quality coaching staff can develop into a solid B12 contributor. However, I don't think the current staff at TAMu has those capabilities.

I would expect about 3 or 4 of the kids currently ranked without 4-stars to end up with 4-stars. Malena, the OL from Allen, and possibly the Jackson kid from Louisiana. He's an interesting kid. Apparently LSU wanted to offer him as an OL, but the kid wants to play on the DL. I would not be surprised if he ends up on the OL at TAMU at some point in his future. Still haven't seen any film of him.

I would also tend to think one of Showers or the Joeckel thats a QB will end up with 4-stars.

Also, there's a shot the OL from Katy ends up a 4-star as well. Apparently he has bulked up in the offseason and is looking the part of a B12 OL right now.

Regardless, this class is about the same as previous classes but Sherman can turn things around landing some of the big fish still out there.
 
My big concern for the Aggies (as a minority of about 1 around here I choose to respect A&M and 95%of its fan base) is that they, like us, will have the class darn near filled up before fall rolls around and we don't get the excitement of having new kids join the class. Remember when we could look on the board here any time of year and find out about a new and exciting recruit?
 
We must face the facts, aggy has a natural advantage here. We will never get the number of hicks they do, never. I'll just tip my hat to them on this one.
