Hicks Interview

Thanks for sharing. Great stuff!

From what little I've seen, this is a really impressive young man. Great prospect but, more impt., great kid.

Pulling for him wherever he goes.

Honestly, at this point why can't these kids make up their mind. They've visited each school, the facilities, the coaching staffs, etc. Unless a coach is leaving a school, the information in front of them is not changing in the next two weeks. End the drama and make a decision.

I actually respect the kids that take this long without making a spectacle of it and seeking attention or the hype. This young man realizes that his decision will affect more than his football which could get taken away with injury or misfortune. He is taking many things into mind and approaching something that can and will change/form his life for the future with serious thought.

He happens to have found 3 places that all offer some things he cherishes and seeks. Tough spot for him. Wherever he chooses I wish him well and respect him quite a bit. He is such a refreshing change of pace from so many of the kids nowadays.

Okay enough is enough. Yes he's a great prospect but great kid? Exactly how do you know? Is it by the way he says he's undecided? Have you ever talked to him? I'll bet the answer is no. You have no idea what he's like just like the rest of us. Why is Hicks a great kid but Jeffcoat, Bible, Jackson, Benson and company are not or get no mention? Did you say great things about any of the other recent players that had trouble with the law? Again you and I don't know about their character. Did that clip really tell you he's a great kid? I saw it and it just told me he has not made his mind up. I hope the young guy makes his mind up. If he picks Texas, I'll pull for him like he's my own. If he picks another school, great for him, but I'll forget all about him in a few weeks. Just like you.

I think it's clear Pulque I have not talked to him from these two sentences in my first post. Have you? I never said he was a bad kid. I just think we are prematurely labeling him a great kid. I'm just saying let's take a wait and see approach.

And why are you calling me troll? Just because my opinion is different?

Snotrocket:

I agree that none of us knows whether he is a great kid or not. We're on a board and likely no one who has commented has met Jordan. So no one really knows whether he's a great kid or not: agreed.

Having said that, in the interviews of and about JH that I have seen--and in the way he appears to be managing the process--he seems to me to be a great kid. For example, what his H.S. coach passed on from Tressel was really interesting (caveat: I don't know the H.S. coach and I don't know Tressel!). The comments about his conversation with Jordan when he was a Soph saying that he was a 1 in a million kid. Said something to the effect that he had a conversation with this Soph that he couldn't have with half of his team. Now, I couple those comments with the ways JH has communicated in interviews, and the way he's managed the process, and I'd say they have 'the ring of truth'.

oh, good grief. nothing that has been said about him by anybody who knows him suggests that he is anything but a really good kid, and the way he has handled all this is textbook stuff that should be required reading in places like temple.

the troll just knows it's his turn to cause some trouble.

snot, no I have not met him personally. But I have read a good amount on him and as a poster above said, it is all positive. This is not always the case. His quotes and comments are consistent.

I also personally know two people who have spoken with him, one at great length. I take what they say to be the truth as well. One of the two has probably spoken to him in the last few days or at least texted him. No, I don't have any insight or information to pass on nor would I if I did as it would be tacky to do so.

Sleep it off.

i think it's silly that anyone on here would be able to claim they know how long it SHOULD take for anyone to make their first big life choice. for some it's easier, for others it's not. honestly, just because you're impatient...

Some of them just need more time. Just like in math tests some good students are faster than others. I believe Mr. Hicks and Mr. Jeffcoat are really sincere in taking their time. Some like RP like to show off but I think those two are the real sincere deal. Unfortunately with all the recent events about coaches and changes going on and still going on in some cases I can't blame them now for being extra careful.

When all the evaluation is over and the dust settles, I'll bet Coach Tressel lands Hicks. Tressel doesn't let many five-star bluechips out of the state of Ohio. I'd love to se him at UT, but I just don't have a good feeling about Hicks this late in the recruiting war.
