Here we go again

I just don't think they care who boos since they paid money for the privilege to be in DKR and boo. As usual, all that will get their attention is fewer people watching LHN, buying tickets and merchandise. As long as they keep selling, they couldn't care less.

Saddened, but not surprised. In fact I thought it would happen. For two years he was one of my favs but I agree, if he feels that way then this is not the right place for him. Time to find where that is and transfer. No sense being unhappy and certainly no sense in making others unhappy.

Speaking of not watching, is the game really blacked out in the Austin area on the LHN, or was that a mis-communication?
How they could justify blacking it out is beyond me. Then again I thought it was going to be boondoggle from the word go. Based on what I've read here the last year or so I was right

I don’t blame Sterns, he is a young knucklehead that wasn’t straightened out by his parents or his coach or the feckless administration. Not being straightened out will not serve him well in the future.

I blame Herman and the feckless administration for not being the adults in the room and not having an inkling of how to handle the matter.
The feckless administration allowed Texas football to become political by a bunch of 18-22 year olds and didn’t hold the coach accountable.

One of the problems is that the majority of the feckless athletic administration is not from Texas. I get an email from Yankee Amy Folan introducing some Yankee from
Michigan to a new job. I guess the premier University of Texas has no one capable of the position. Del Conte is a Californian and I don't give him a pass In this matter, Plonsky is a Pennsylvania Yankee,
Eichhorst is a Yankee....Does anyone really believe any of them give a damn about Texas Alumni or the “Eyes of Texas”? The answer is no.

I watched Patterson run a whole bunch of people off that had been long term season ticket holders. I know my section never filled back up with Foundation donors and Texas sold seats on a game by game basis at a cost less than the Foundation members paid.

I will watch on TV until there is a change.

Until there is a change, I will not buy tickets or contribute to the Longhorn Foundation.
First time since 1972.

And brothers, I am not alone.
IDH-I do blame Sterns, If he makes a decision to do or not do something,it is his decision. That is the problem with this generation. Blame someone else or your parents or the cops or society. If he makes the decision to not sing the school song, then why is he here? Go somewhere else and dont let the door hit you in the rear young man. I wont miss you and you can easily be replaced.

I believe this may get a mention if the University calls back soliciting funds...they called me yesterday while I was in the middle of a time-sensitive project.
When they call back, and they will, do mention this. You might consider asking them to put you on a do not call list. Remember there are real charities out there doing good work who will not condemn their donors publically.

You're either for us or against us. If you are "for us", honor the traditions, separate politics from sports, and work on all the social scene you want in your spare time.

If you are "against us", there are dozens of schools/teams that hate us; choose one and I'll personally drive you there.

:hookem2:

Yeah I don’t get the part of being offended but then staying, not at all. If you really do feel slighted - offended, etc, then why stay, except to cause discord or play the martyr role, and you’re sure not a martyr in this role.

Oops! “ BLACKING IT OUT!” This is a micro-aggression or some other non-sense that triggers a latent memory of colonial/patriarchal/systemically racist America. And, clearly it is phrases like these that are solely responsible for my not being in the top 1% of wage earners.

Erbutch, I don't blame Sterns because it should never have been his decision to not sing the eyes and stay at Texas. He is like a petulant child with no parental guidance, guidelines or penalty for his actions.

The feckless Administration should have had a one way conversation with each of the players with the player’s parents in the room.
Goes like this: You will sing the “Eyes of Texas” and participate in any other activities that are deemed to necessary by Texas. If not, you will have your scholarship revoked. Your choice.

I don't disagree but in the eyes of these players, pun intended, that would bolster their BS about being treated poorly and oppressed. It would be BS but it wouldn't matter. And UT is feckless, as you said, so it would never do that.

Lets be realistic here. The coaches job is to do as you advised. However the ultimate decision is Sterns. Regardless of what the coach says Sterns is responsible for his decision. If he uses drugs, riots or makes an A in English,It is his decision. Yes Herman has some of the blame but Sterns still has to make the decision and be held accountable. I will not be at the game as my buddy has my tickets to this game. If I was there and saw him or any other player kneel or not sing The eyes of Texas ,I would Boo the player. That would be my decision. After all they are getting paid by a scholarship and numerous other perks.

Coaches teach football and life Lessons. Most students at the University of Texas don’t have their rooms and books paid for, they don’t have tutors, they don’t have meals for free, so who is privilege now? On top of that now you can get paid.

I love me some Tudors.

That happened at one of the first MLS matches outside the bubble. The players took knees for the anthem, got booed and had stuff thrown at them. It didnt get much pub for some reason

I think it was absolutely disgusting,” Dallas defender Reggie Cannon said after the match, Sky Sports reported. “You’ve got fans booing you for people taking a stand for what they believe in.”

Hilarious response. Aren't the fans taking a stand for what they believe in? The Horns will be lucky there is a limited crowd coming due to Covid. I think they would be shocked at the boos directed at kneeling and every time Sterns/Eagles make a mistake.

Taking a stand. Ironic.

Why give him everything the little self-centered darling wants? The UT scholarship gave him a platform for building and promoting his worth in the NFL market and now he wants to disrespect and diminish the image of the university. So reduce his stage for self promotion by letting him ride the pine with limited playing time. He cannot have it both ways by having self promotion while damaging the image of the very stage that he uses to promote himself. Don’t sing, but stand and put your Horns up. And keep your damn mouth shut to the press. Or, let’s see what some bench time does for his numbers.

And if he and others want to become a problem in the locker room, don’t suit them up for the game. These are the things that the great coaches of old would do. Riding the pine did wonders for clearing the mental cobwebs and correcting performance issues. Some players could never see the light and lived a life of packing their bags for the next stop, like one Joe Don Looney. Good coaches drew the line in the sand and the PLAYER was the one making the decision for his destiny. And team rules and standards of behavior were more important than the scoreboard. But guess what, those same coaches usually owned the scoreboard because their teams had something called character. Texas needs to find one of those coaches.

I am an old fan and have been a loyal fan. I no longer have the Longhorn Network and if Tom cannot stand up to these malcontents I do not have the heart to care who wins. I ditched the Cowboys and will ditch the Horns.

Coach needs to not start Sterns. If Sterns cries and tries to build consensus then remove him from the team. If the team revolts like Missouri, then don’t play this year and recruit players who don’t act spoiled.
I’d be more proud to wear orange if the coaches followed this protocol then if we went 10-0.
Texas is the leader and should set the example of what is acceptable.
Really no political stance should be allowed in football.
