Here is what is so cool about the class so far...

There isn't a real "need" left as I see it.

Of the guys left:

Jeffcoat, Lache, White, Cobbs, Hicks, Matthews (may have left out some) are all at positions we have great players committed already.

I am not sure that Jeffcoat is any better or has more potential than either White or Daniels at DE. Would be awesome to have him, but man the other guys look really, really strong.

White and Cobbs are great talents, but my oh my what talent we already have committed at WR.

Hicks looks like a rare talent that I would love to have, but is he any stronger than Benson?

Lache is reported to be a can't miss talent, but Traylon S looks KICK *** coming out of the spread in his video.

Matthews pedigree is cool, but IMO he isn't better than the guys we've already got committed.

Not saying I don't want all of them, but we don't have a solid class thus far, this is a great group on paper already. It may be our best ever.

If we don't get anyone else this is easily a top 5-10 class ... anyone we get from the guys you listed now will be gravy. Two or more and we're talking SICK.

If this class doesn't take another kid it is top 5. 16 four star and 1 five star projected already.

Corey Nelson or that HIcks kid from Ohio would be outstanding additions to the LB unit. Matthews looks like a solid OL prospect and could put the cherry on top there.

The top 3 prospects (White, Jeffcoat, Seastrunk) all seem less probable at this time. We have already taken 4-5 WRs in this class though White is that big WR we don't have yet. We've already gotten 2 top DE's in this class. In addition to the 4 DE's we took in 09 which included 2 top ranked guys in Okafor and Mims. Doesn't seem like much more room there for Jeffcoat.

Seastrunk has to be the top target right now. We have only gotten 1 RB committ and he is a big unknown at this point. We need another RB and this guy seems to be a can't miss one. Hope we get him.

hornpharmd, i couldn't disagree more regarding white and jeffcoat.

white looks like a very real possibility, and maybe soon.

jeffcoat is probably going to be a strongside end or maybe quick tackle. only mims among your mentions plays a similar game, and jeffcoat may be an order of magnitude better player. we have great need for him, and some think our chances for getting him are pretty decent.

right now i wouldn't say we have really low probability for nearly anybody we are hard after. we are on an incredible roll, and this sort of thing can really snowball. kids have a chance here of being part of something really special, like the vince young bunch, and that is really attractive. who wouldn't want to be party to a memorable undertaking that their entire home state is proud of. we've seen what the '05 conquest of best-ever usc did for this state.

even hicks from ohio may want to get aboard. i don't know. i have a hard time getting a reading on him.

Of the guys left Hicks at LB would be a huge pickup for any team in the nation. He is as good a linebacker as anybody, maybe the best in he nation. He tore up the NIke combine last weekend. If he makes it to the Spring Game look for a commitment.

Cobbs is a game changer. He plays QB at hisTulsa HS but is a Harvin/Bush type of talent. He both ran and passed for a 1,000 yds and is excellent on special teams. Heck he even blocked a punt last year. It is hard to get a read on him as every interview is a little different but this is a kid you wait on and take no matter what.

With Wilson joining Okafor and Mims, Jeffcoat is not as vital as he once was. There will be some good talent in 2011.

Lache is special. However Traylon Shead is too. I know a lot are asking questions because he plays 1A. I am showing my age, but Shead reminds me of another small school RB I saw in HS, David Overstreet. Seastrunk is still a take. I think the lure of Hollywood might be too strong.

for that matter, i think we'll take matthews if we can get him, even given the excellent o-linemen we've gotten the last couple of years. lord knows i'd love it. papa matthews came to the oilers the only era i've paid much attention to pro ball, and he was a war horse. he will always have the word 'hero' next to his name in my pantheon, and i'm betting the apple fell pretty close. i wish i felt better about our chances.

all the names we're throwing around here are ones you make room for. you take 'em, and you make the numbers work out.

Agreed you take any and all. Would love any of White, Seastrunk, Jeffcoat, Hicks, Cobbs, or Matthews.

"I think the lure of Hollywood might be too strong."

Don't underestimate the lure of Austin. According to Lache's aunt he's a good, down-to-earth kid who is loved by his teammates and coaches, is strong academically and is an all around good kid. It should be expected that anyone with his talent would only be smart to take a good look at all his options. Anyone who gets their nose out of joint just because he likes to wear some gear from another school at this early point in the process should step back and take a deep breath. Remember, he's just a junior in high school and doing his best to make the most important decision in his young life. Be patient an let the coaches do their thing. We might all be thrilled with the outcome. He's worth waiting for.

I think you take an elite talent at any position you can get one at.

White, Seastruck, Hicks, Jeffcoat are elite - Mathews is top notch and the coaches would likely take any of them if they could.

Jeffcoat and White's offers will be there up until signing day. We're not going to have to wait much longer for White either.

Darius Terrell will proably be an H-back, which means we only have 3 true WR commits.

the best "get" may be Matthews ____________________________________________________________________________ Could someone tell me why Evan Washington is not in this conversation? Looks just as good as Mathews and was a heavy Texas lean before he wasn't offered. Our Desoto connections could pull his heartstrings back our way. Just curious why no love his way....

I consider the top 3 guys to be Jeffcoat, Hicks and White.

When I see Jeffcoat I see a guy who in 3 years is on the level as Curry from UNC. That is he has the frame to weigh 280 lbs and still maintain his speed. Hicks looks like Derrick Johnson only bigger, I might even compare him to Kindle only quicker.

And white is at a position which we are stacked at but a guy like him is going to be a must have.

As far as Seastrunk goes, I'm not as sold, we don't emphasis the run enough to call him a must have and there are two runningbacks in the 2k11 class that might be as good or better. Same goes for Matthews, might be the 2nd coming of Bruce all mighty but we are so stacked I'm not that concerned.
