good friend's 21st b-day
his girlfriend is planning for about 15-20 people
dinner in (preferably private) room at restaurant close to downtown

best i can come up with is moonshine on 3rd and red river
not for at least a month, so still have time for reservations and such

any ideas?????

The Clay Pit has a private room. It's a very good Indian restaurant just south of campus. (Some would call it "nouveau Indian". I'm not sure that's fair.)

Carmelo's has a separate dining room, but I'm not sure if they will cordon it off for a single party or not. It's pretty good Italian fare on 5th Street.

It isn't gourmet, or anything, but it's fun...reserve the Pope Table at Buca di Beppo.

I am sorry. I try to respect opinions and suggestions. However, Buca is about the worst Italian you can get. It is slightly better than OG.

Do not waste your 21st sitting around eating ****** food. From the one place the OP mentioned, there is no way they'd be happy with Buca.

There is a karaoke room at Maiko, a sushi restaurant on 6th (at Lavaca, next to The Belmont). I don't know how easy it is to reserve, but we got it on 30 minutes notice one evening for a friend's birthday. I think there were about 18 of us. It was so much fun.

Louie's 106 in the Wine Cellar is a perfect fit for what you want. One option I would consider id Eddie V's downtown. Not a private room I am aware of but some sperate sections in the rear of the restaurant. BEST THING HERE... is if you go early Saturday they have a HAPPY HOUR from 4:30 - 7. You may not be heading out that early, but half price appetizers. 25 cent oysters and discount drinks on a Saturday night to start things off might be worth an early start. THOUGH I think the happy hour may only be int he bar, so maybe only while you wait.

How about Chuck E Cheese........

Sienna which an upscale Brick Oven at 2222 and 360 is very good and has a great atmosphere.

You could always go to Sugars......

Zoot has a semi-private room/table at the front that works well. Plus their food is fantastic.

Eddie V's is great, but will be LOUD. Sullivan's has private rooms in the back.
