Help needed!

Ok, so me and a friend were watching SC (or should I say the Brett Favre channel) and he makes a comment something to the effect of, "When he took a dive against Michael Strahan, I've never been able to respect him." I am no Packer fan, but I do like Brett a lot, like most people. This was an assanine statement, and we have been arguing about it for a day or so. Which got me thinking, do a lot of other people think what Brett did (he slid to give Strahan a record breaking sack) was that bad? I thought it was a nice gesture. But the real truth is it happened 6 years ago and I cant exactly remember the play and how it all went down, so I need help with 2 things:

1. A lively discussion on whether or not what Brett did was "honorable" or was it closer to cheating?

2. A video of the play.....I have ripped youtube to its knees, its not on there.

i don't think it was horrible, but he sure didn't make him earn it. naked bootleg to strahan's side, where strahan is conveniently unblocked. favre just falls down as strahan approaches. couldn't be more obvious.

hard to imagine someone being as competitive as favre doing something like this. but not the end of the world either.

he may have taken a dive, he may not have...the truth is, he was about to get sacked anyways. he just went down, nothing dishonorable or cheating about it. quarterbacks do it all the time, this just happened to be a record setter. you're friend is an idiot to dismiss the greatness that is/was brett favre

If he took a dive to help Strahan, that really sucks.

I was never a big fan of Favre because the pronunciation of his name did not match the spelling (just kidding). Seriously, the guy is a major talent with an enormous heart but his judgement (an absolutely critical quality for a QB) was not that great. He was still throwing into double coverage right up to the end.

unless it was something designed to the left and strahan was supposed to be unblocked and out of the play, until brett decided to roll out right into him.

I'm with your friend. It was a completely dishonorable play. It's been a while, so everyone forgets, but the sports columnist community was up in arms after it. Like your friend, I lost a lot of respect for the already overrated Brett Favre.

This is typical of the types of articles written after the play.
