About a month ago I had new plugs and wires put in my 98 Neon but in the last 2 weeks or so the car has been misfiring. I've had a head gasket leak for about 2 1/2 yrs and have had to add about a quart of oil every month. The mechanic I took it to said the oil from the head gasket leak is mixing in with the coolant, causing the car to misfire. Is this plausible and if so what are the long term dangers of this? I've read online about 'block sealers' that when added to coolant can plug up leaks. Anyone know anything about these? Thanks.

Head gaskets can leak oil, coolant or compression. The oil can leak outside the engine, or into the combustion chamber, or into a coolant passage. Coolant can leak to the outside, to the oil, or into the combustion chamber. The combustion pressure can leak into the coolant, causing hoses to blow up, or your radiator tank to separate.
If the car is missing because of a leaking head gasket, it is because oil or coolant is getting into the combustion chamber where the spark plug resides. You can take the plugs out and if they are oil fouled, put new ones in to buy a little time.
You could add that sealer if it is a real throwaway car, but I wouldn't add it to any car. It gums up everything, like tubes in the radiator and small water passages.
You have a blown head gasket, and you need to either get a good used engine and put in there, or have the head removed and resurfaced properly at a good machine shop (not an easy thing to find) or get another vehicle.
