...and I dont know what will get rid of these damn pop-ups. I have Ad ware 6 installed, I have Spybot - Search and Destroy installed, and I have the Google pop-up blocker which has blocked over 5,000+ consecutive pop-ups until now. I was looking up Xbox cheats, when I clicked on a link and the ad started installing itself. I have gone through my windows files and uninstalled and deleted anything unusual there. Everytime I run Spybot it picks something up and then deletes it. I set it to run when Windows starts, just to delete anything before it has a chance to run, and still I get the ads. Anyone had this before? Thanks.

i would just restore your system to yesterday. that's fixed the spyware problems i've had big problems with.

Thanks, I'll try those tips.

I figured that I'd get called out...but it wasnt porn. I would admit it. I was talking to some friends and they warned me about sites that say they contain cheats/hacks for gaming. Most of the time they are waiting to hack into you.

Kingkoopa is correct. If and when you start going in circles trying to eliminate a problem like this - AND AFTER you have unintentionally installed something like this - simply do a system restore on WinXP. Clean and secure - you're simply rolling your system back to a date in time before it got slurped.

for the record, the last time i had to do a restore, whatever spam it was had deleted or blocked access to my restore program... so, i think i had to go into safe mode to do it. additionally, it had corrupted my last few restore points, so i had to back it up a couple of weeks, if i recall.
