Help. I bought a lemon TV from Conns

We bought this 52" Samsung TV at Conn's in August 2006. The first time it started messing up was December of 2006. The TV would just turn off all by itself. By the time we got through all the Conns BS, it was 6 weeks later before the TV was actually fixed. So all thru NFL playoffs & the bowl games, I'm stuck watching it all on my old 27" Zenith I've had since 1995.

Then in July of 2007, I start getting a message on the TV screen that the fan is burning out & that I need to replace it soon. Then the TV would just go off. I waited about a month for them to get it fixed, then went ballistic when they told me they are waiting for a part to come in from Singapore & it should only be a few more weeks (but they couldn't guarantee it).

I raised enough hell that they finally just gave me a replacement TV that was the same make & model. I pleaded to get some other TV (Toshiba, LG, anything), but they said they couldn't.

Then yesterday the TV starts going off again. Now it only waits about 10 seconds after you turn it on for the picture to go black, then it shuts off a few seconds later.

Now I'm waiting on the service people to set up a time to come look at it.

What are my options? I really don't want this same TV back, but the manager from the store & the lady from the service department tell me they can't give me another TV (especially another brand). Next thing you know my warrantly will be out & I'll be stuck with the lemon.

Maybe you could get the new TV from Conns and then sell it without opening it. Then take the money and buy a new TV.

Pretty much...I went into Conn's thinking it was the store I had read about on Hornfans that has good prices on lots of stuff. As we were driving home we went past a Costco store & it hit me that it was Costco I read about, not Conn's.

I guess you're gonna tell me I deserve the lemon now?

Do not EVER buy from Conn's. Get Circuit City or any other place to price match. A bit long but the here's the reason...

I saw a tv that I liked there and they offered 18 months no interest so I was all set to buy from them. My friend says be careful because when he bought from them it wasn't at the store and he had to pick the tv up from their distribution center across town. So when the saleperson helped me the very first question I asked was do you have this exact model in inventory here at this store. She checks on the cpu and says YES. I think great and proceed to complete the sale and paperwork.

She fills out the credit red tape and gives it to me to sign. She doesn't explain anything just tells me where to sign. I look it over and asked about this extra ~$350 on it. She said it was an extended warranty. I told her I didn't want it and get it off. She acts very bothered by this and harasses me about it but finally complies. About 30 mins later she finally comes to me with the amended contract and again just tells me to sign it. I again look it over and there's ~$150 extra charge on it. I again ask her what that is about. She explains it's company policy and I MUST be charged this amount. It's because I have no proof that I live in the address I claim I do. (I had just bought a new house hence wanting a new tv and had not changed my DL.) I explain I can easily go and get a piece of mail showing that I live there tomorrow. She goes on and on about how she just can't not charge me that extra money. That I need to just sign the contract now and then tomorrow call Conn's credit comapny to knock off the extra charge and be reimbursed. I looked at her in amazement but she was serious! After going back and forth for another 20-30 mins she finally concedes. Acting all put out and upset and her doing me such a huge favor.

All in all 2 hrs later I finally get the paperwork straight and ink the contract. So I'm ready for the tv and even brought a friend to help me move it as it's a 65" DLP. Then the kicker....they don't have it here at the store. WTF!!!!

She tells me to come by tomorrow and it'll be at the store. The next day comes and, guess what, it still isn't there. They appease me by saying they'll deliver it for free. Finally the next day 2 ghetto dudes in a ghetto little truck with my tv hanging off the tailgate arrive.

Sorry for the length but I plead for everybody to never shop at this **** hole of a company.

Another thing I just remembered (when you mentioned the extra charges), they started out charging me on my contract for insurance on the TV...without even asking me if I wanted or needed it. So I had to wait another hour or so while they took it off.
