Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of some aparments i could look at in houston. Could be moving there soon and i want to get a 2 bedroom where i could pay around 300-500$ a month.

You're not going to find a decent 2 bedroom for $300-$500 per month. When I was in Houston (5 years ago), a decent 1 bedroom ran $600-$650.

Definitely not in the city. If you do, it's Section 8 type rentals like the new ones that are being built in pockets along the North Freeway and in the East End.

Around the Beltway, though, near Westchase or below that, you can probably find a two-bedroom place for around $700, fairly new, and many of the leasing offices offer specials.

If living in the city isn't a priority, try something in the Katy area or Jersey Village/1960--lots of new units going up in these areas. Pearland's also got a few new units going up but they appear to be more upscale.

sorry w/ a roomie so total 600-1200 total...thanks again

Ah, yeah. I'd say you have more room to work with now. There are some pretty good places for that amount near the Med Center--you have the rail, Reliant Stadium and the Med Center all within five minutes.

A co-worker moved here from Frisco over the past year and he's got a two-bedroom place for about $800 a month. New p lace, too. Right across Fannin from Reliant Park.

There's a place called Kerry Glen near Woodway and Voss that is outstanding... you should be abel to get in there in a 2 BR for under $1200 and bills are included. They're all privately owned so if you need a realtor, I'll point one your way. I don't know a single person who lived there and didn't absolutely love it. Hakeem used to have a place in there (still does, I think) since he would go practice at 2nd Baptist. We would sometimes see his family hanging around or his brothers driving up in their big Mercedes.

Did some looking and spotted one...

Trust me... check these out.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I also will be looking for something in Houston shortly...something in the Galleria area. I'll be working at Post Oak and 610. The place the previous poster mentioned looks to be exactly like something I would want, except that at this point, I just need a one bedroom.

here are my thoughts

all new build apartments are the same. BS workout room, pool, lounge etc. all the living areas are too small that the bed/bath/closet are too big. market is so overbuilt that rents are $1/sf or less with the move in special. find the one in the best location and go with it. they should all be in your price range.

the good thing about going with new construction is that they are generally nicer and they offer a roommate floorplan, that is 2 equally sized BR with private baths. you wont find that in older places.

The most important thing to look at is parking, especially for visitors. its the last thing on your mind when you are staring at the leasing agent's giant rack, but it it the primary differentiator between the complexes.

i used to live at a complex at the intersection of edloe and westpark, right by greenway plaza. it was a good location and i had no problems with anything. some cars got broken into, but i think that is a prob no matter where you live.

good luck

I'm moving out of my 2 bedroom 1 bath (with small office too)
rent house in late Aug / early Sep

I will have something like 3 months that I would love somebody to take over for me.

House is $650 a month rent, small...kinda crappy, old, weird looking, (kinda reminds me of Austin) but cheap. In OAK FOREST neighborhood...near 610 and Ella right outside the loop...

good starter house to get in here and either renew or kick rocks for a different place...I say again though 2-1 HOUSE (with a dog friendly backyard) plus an office (which could double as a 3rd bedroom, lounge, cigar room, or whatever) for $650 a month rent

Though I'm a locator in Austin, my database has the Greater Houston area if you would like me to run a search for you. When were you needing to move?

Does anyone know anything about the 1111 Post Oak Boullevard apartments? I got infomration about them through a locator and the price looks VERY reasonable.....almost too good to be true. For that area I'm trying to think of some reason why their prices aren't more. It is an old complex and I believe it's VERY close to the Loop so those are possible reasons, but I'm still wondering if there is something else I'm not considering that I need to know before signing a lease. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and the main drawing point for me is the fact that I would be walking to work everyday as it is probably no more than a block at the most from my office.

Any help is appreciated.
