BA, Sam may lead on the technical score, but Lawrence has 100% of the judges' score until Lawrence incurs a season-ending injury. Just the way it is.Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson Tigers: 22-for-28 Passing, 351 Yards, 3 Touchdowns (2 rushing)
In just 30 minutes of game time, Ehlinger compiled 429 yards passing five touchdowns — both career highs (for a full game) and Texas' records for one half.
Sam 1, Trevor 0
Earl? Isn’t he the same guy that insisted Texas needs a black QB to win a national championship? Also cannot hurt that Sam did it live in front of two Heisman voters ...
Andre Ware was calling the game on LHN
Ricky Williams was on the LHN set too
Not sure if Earl was there live, that would be 3
Earl?? Didn’t he say something like Texas needs a “Black” QB to compete at the highest level? Just sayin. Also cannot hurt that Sam did it live in front of two Heisman voters ...

Most likely Trevor Lawrence.
Fantastic QB with one NC already, then played and played well for another one last year.
QB on the #1 team in the country, and hard to see Clemson losing in the regular season, or in the ACC title game.
Will probably leave college football after this year, so the voters will want to send him out with a Heisman.
Sam would need Trevor to falter this year, and win the B12 to have a shot.
Not supposed to be, but often is, which is why freshman rarely win it.
Sam's stats, impressive they are, were against a hired, non-P5 team, while Clemson played a team in conference.
Only one player all of last season threw for 400 yds and 5 TD in a half: Joe Burrow, vs Oklahoma.
Well, yeah. But he was playing OU in the playoffs. That's about as easy as it can possibly get.Only one player all of last season threw for 400 yds and 5 TD in a half: Joe Burrow, vs Oklahoma.
Or Colt getting robbed by BradfordI think that Sam is in a good position. It seems like favorites often don’t win. Best example is probably Payton Manning. He was the wall-to-wall favorite, and lost. Another is Leonard Fournette, who was everyone’s choice (and there was no close second) for most of that particular year. Like Manning, he didn’t win.
It seems like the voters will look for a reason to pick someone other than the odds on favorite.
I disagree with that.....Dick Kazmaier (1951-Princeton), Earl was pretty badass in 77 and there are plenty of others. The award has definately changed since the late 80's I do agree with.Is it for the best player - I thought it was for the most outstanding or some such wording, that would allow for the most impactful player or such.
It’s not gone to the best overall player since its inception.
As I noted above, wall to wall favorites often don’t win. The other consideration may be the talent around the player. If it’s close and the voters conclude that Lawrence had more surrounding talent, that will help Sam.Longhorn fan through and through, but I just see such a rare, pure QB talent in Lawrence that I don't see how Sam beats him, if Lawrence stays healthy. (Of course, I hope I'm wrong, and will be happy if I am).
