Heisman Odds 2023

This surprised me. It tells me that the college football world is starting to buy into what most of us objective (?) — make that delusional — fans believe could happen this year.

If Quinn is as good as the betting odds suggest, we’re going to have one heck of a year.

And I really hope that the jerk at the top of the list fizzles out.

Caleb Williams USC +500
Jayden Daniels LSU +900
Quinn Ewers Texas +1100
Michael Penix Jr. Washington +1200
Cade Klubnik Clemson +1400

Since VY and Colt didn't win that award, seems most Texas fans have rightfully lost interest. I would be interested if a Longhorn won it if everyone would suddenly jump for joy. I wouldn't. Guess it would be neat, that's about it.

Surprises me too.

Quinn is an incredible talent but we all have to see more sustained on the field success and WINS to fully get on board re: Heisman talk.

Penix is going to be the QB every scout comes calling for from January to April. Everyone knows that Williams is the #1 pick in the draft, but I'd be shocked if Penix wasn't a full time starter or starter-in-waiting for whoever picks him.

I thought the same Sangre even though there were others on here commenting the opposite after the game.

I hear you. Many like me believe that Colt should have won in 2008, and even our buddy Herbie pretty much said that he thought Bijan “was the best player in the college game” in 2021. He wasn’t even invited.

Then there’s the character issue. Contrast Baker Mayfield or Caleb Williams with Bijan Robinson. We’re talking different universes.

While I would be pleased if Ewers were to win it, I believe that the bloom has been off the Heisman rose for a while. Running backs have been devalued, and the award is often not for the best player in college football.

Having said that, if Arch is all we hope he will be, my feeling would probably be different. He could’ve gone anywhere, and he chose Texas. That’s makes it a slightly different calculation for me.

I'm not anti Ewers. But I am surprised at the hype. It's not a complaint, because he was 19yo last year, but he had multiple flat sides. I'm cool with that in his development, but just surprised at the hype.

Until he shows consistency on the field I'm with you. I know he has more talent in his pinky than most out there, but if those old tendencies and bad habits show up its not going to go well for him. Everything I've heard is how hard working and dedicated he's been since the end of last year. I'm very optimistic this year will be like the first half against Bama last year before he got hurt.

He cut his hair, working hard, and staying out of trouble. Good enough for me.

We all know what DKR said about potential. Until he plays great multiple games back to back I'm not a believer either.

We all know how many QB's had a CAREER day against Texas and then totally &^%$ the bed the next week.
