Heart Rate monitor watch with GPS advice

I have a MIO right now and it's o.k. but I need something more advanced with more features. I've been looking at the Polar heart rate watches and they seem to be really good quality watches. I've also seen the Garmin heart rate watches with GPS but I don't know a whole lot about them.

Can somebody who knows about these watches give some feedback?

Polar seems to be good watch but don't know if have GPS function.
Kids got me the Garmin with everything, including GPS. Works good enough but wayyy to complicated for me so that I use it usually for the heart, then cannot figure out how to get the calorie count to work, then cannot get the GPS - just way to complicated functions for me.

NashHorn,

I think I saw one model in Polar with GPS on amazon.com. Judging by what you're saying, if I could figure out how to operate all the features, Garmin would not be a wasted investment?

Thanks for the feedback.

When it comes to GPS watches, Garmin is the gold standard. Polar and Timex have GPS versions but they don't work nearly as well. We've got four Garmins in our house due to upgrades, gifts, etc. I'm a triathlete and she's a marathoner. I'm going to be selling a used 405 and a used 305 as soon as I get off my butt and list them on ebay. Let me know if you're interested.

HoustonHorn,

Thnx for the advice. I think I've pretty much settled on the Garmin 405. My brother wanted to know what I wanted for christmas and I wanted to get feedback before I let him know. He ain't hurting for cash, so I'm gonna settle for a brand new one.

I use the 405 for distance training and love it, however, the 305 has an extremely loyal following. You cannot go wrong with either.
