Tech should be in the hunt in a year or two. Their new coach, Dan Spencer, was the top assistant at Oregon State and helped bring take that program to two straight titles. He has a great record as a pitching coach and purportedly is a great recruiter - someone who might be a worthy successor when Augie decides to retire.
Spencer may do great , but Tech could have done much better. It is a good job with good facilities and the kind of Academics to win. Last year they could have had a Ted Silva type guy from UCI. There are still many others with good HC resumes .
in regard to the "if he can get good players to lubbock" comment, it's probably worth noting that tt has won the big 12 title and at one time was even ranked no. 1 in the country.
I was not trying to say that TT can't get good kids to go there, or that they haven't in the past. TT just seems geographically challenged visa a via the location of good HS players. That makes it difficult, but the new guy could do it; he certainly has a nice resume.
FYI I was not trying to flame. My daughter is currently enrolled in your alma mater.
They are going to build a new stadium in a Lincolnesque
Joint Venture with the City of Lubbock.
Even so, Dan Law Field had suites etc befoee Disch Falk did and isn't a bad facility.
