Hawaii Game #1

Taylor has 6 KOs.

He had some sort of problem with his back while pitching to the 3rd batter in the 6th inning. The trainer came out and Taylor threw one practice pitch before resuming play.

Top of the 8th with 2 outs (Weiss sacrifice bunted and Loy was thrown out at the plate).

Bases loaded for Texas.

Phelps popped out to end the inning.

2-0, Texas.

Bottom 9. Still 2-0 good guys. TJ with a four hitter. Pitched out of trouble in the 8th. Too bad we don't have Ruffin to close it out. Jungman has thrown 100 pitches.

I was at the game, and forgot to bring my radio to listen to the road feed. Taylor had a no-hitter going into the 4th. A batter was called out at first, and the Hawai'i crowd (awesome crowd btw) went nuts. The next batter bunted for a base hit, ending the no hitter.

The question I have, is it weak to bust up a no hitter with a bunt early on in a ballgame?

Taylor later gave up a second hit which make it kind of moot...

Just asking for some thoughts here...

and btw, I've been twice, you seriously need to come to Hawai'i at some point in your life and see the Horns play.

No problem with the bunt. The Rainbows were trying to get base runners, as that is the starting point towards scoring & winning.

Our "northpaw" is off to a great start. We will need him, if the team is to succeed.

Jungmann is making his case early for being best pitcher in college baseball. Need Cole and Hoby to step up and round out an incredible weekend staff. Lets see if Cole bounces back from his opening weekend woes tonight.

So far outside of freshmen Payton and Weiss Texas has shown little to no offense. Hawaii did not walk anyone so Texas struggled to score 2 runs. Hopefully the offense improves but right now Weiss and Payton are carrying Texas on offense. Taylor with 2 complete game shutouts to start the year is the highlight.
