Having No DH Doesn't Sit Well with Hank Steinbrenner

teach your players to run bases, you god damn yankee

Simple - do away with the DH and play real baseball like the National League does. Think back to the old days and remember some of the great pitchers who helped themselves with the bat - Newcombe, Drysdale, Spahn, Gibson, to name a handful. The pitcher who is not an automatic out when he comes to bat presents a real problem for the opposing team.

Hank Steinbrenner would argue against the Resurrection of Christ--i.e., it would be "so" 1st Century--if he thought it somehow negatively affected the Yankees' chances of winning and competing with the Red Sox.

Lack of intelligence + relativistic "just win" attitude + loud mouth + silver spoon = Hank Steinbrenner

I'd love to see Hank and Scott Boras fight a duel to the death with sporks and staplers.

I watched a Cardinals game over the weekend where TLR used a pitcher as a pinch hitter and he got a hit. Wonder what Hank thinks of that?

Although, I am apathetic to this argument, I will say that I could not care less about Hank's opinion on anything.

The DH rule is almost in the same league of suck as OU. Almost.

Edit: btw, Pence should have thrown Wang out at the plate instead of just giving up on the play.

Running is apparently some exotic, obsolete, barbaric activity that should not be forced on any civilized person.

Looking at him, I think I can see where he gets that idea.

Y'all are too harsh on Hank. Apparently, somebody told him that pitchers are there to pitch ONLY. To prevent any further non-pitching related injuries to pitchers, MLB should institue a new DF position - 'designated fielder.' That way, there can be another player standing next to the pitcher while he is pitching. Then the pitcher won't hurt himself RUNNING to field a ball.

I'll say this for the DH rule

First off I'm torn on whether or not I like it. The DH makes the game more exciting b/c usually it does replace a weak hitter with a strong one which does make the game more enjoyable in a way. That said, the purist in me doesn't like the DH for obvious reasons.

I'll add this, I guarantee you most casual fans prefer the DH

I'm also younger which I'm sure factors as well. My guess is older groups hate the DH where as younger ones tend to prefer it.

Either way there are always 2 sides and I hate watching an automatic out

I'd be willing to guarantee you that the majority of baseball fans prefer the DH

Also why don't youll bash college baseball as well. While you're at it tell augie he's an idiot and he's ruining the game too.

Not everyone is a 60 yo purist

I hate watching the pitcher as an automatic out. Even worse is when there's two outs and first base is open, th 8th batter is always intentionally walked. Oh yeah, thats wonderful. I can't stand watching pitchers make fools of themselves at the plate. I'm not a casual fan by any means, and I love the DH.

I wonder what people would think of a designated fielder. Someone that can play catcher or shortstop that doesn't hit. It would make sense because most teams have at least one fielder that doesn't hit very well (hell, the Astros have at least 2).

the DH/no DH rule is a different issue from what Hank S said. he is a whining beyotch that wants to change 100+ years of history because his team is not performing well and lost its best starting pitcher. he sucks and gives me more reasons to hate the yankees.

I wouldn't even qualify as a casual baseball fan, and I like that the NL doesn't use a DH, while the AL does. It makes MLB more interesting.
