Haven't Followed The Team So Far...

...as closely as many others here. What do you foresee for the Horns gauging the season so far?

The Carolina win looks great on paper and always tough to beat a first-rate program like that on the road. Is Carolina really down still?

Can this team make a run at Sweet 16 or better? Thanks.

Looked really good early on.....ran into Rice and seemed to stand around (like we've seen in the past)....you could almost sense a beat down coming at the hands of USC (and it did)....looked lackadaisical at times vs lesser opponents but kept chalking up the 25+ pt wins....then came UNC and the team fought hard in an unfriendly atmosphere and got the win.

MSU on Wednesday will tell us a lot.

What I've noticed most is they look hungrier and much more like a TEAM than last year by far. Seems like the times I've seen them start to go down by 5-7, I get back in the last year mindframe of the wheels are about to come off. And then they fight back score for score and then are back in position for the win. Examples of this in some form were seen in the Illinois, Pitt, and NC games. Granted, I didn't see the USC game so I can't say what went wrong there. Either way, the team does have some shortcomings, yet I don't think we are short on fight, belief, and trust in one another. Looks like they enjoy playing together.

I have seen most of the games this year and saw them play IL and Pitt at MSG. I think they are a solid team. At our best we have a dominant big man, a good rebounder and roll player, a real scorer, serviceable guards, good team defense and (HUGE) a new Utah Jazz offense with real movement, setting picks and good shot selection. At worst, we have bad shot selection, mental errors, no team defense and poor free throw shooting. It all depends what team shows up as we are still very inconsistant. Time will tell as to how they gel together. UNC win was big because we have had a huge problem closing out big games on the road the last few years. This team will go as far as the freshman take us. We have all the tools to get to the sweet 16, but realistically no further. This team would be a contender for a title next year....but that assumes the freshman stay and don't go pro.

With Cory Joseph hitting his strides, we now have one of the best offensive line-ups in years. With Joseph at point guard, Brown becomes less prone to committing turnovers and more effective at scoring. Other teams cannot just face-guard Hamilton anymore. All three can drive the lane. Gary Johnson can pick his spot for his 15 footers. TT is, well, very talented.

Besides, Balbay can come in for change of pace and defensive pressure. Wangmene and Hill can stand up against bigger line-ups.

I think this team has a 50/50 chance of going to Elite 8. A fun group to watch. What's scary is, though, all of the above fall apart and they go back to the last year's team if Joseph has an off-night or gets into foul trouble.

This team may revert back to last year's meltdown, but nothing I've seen tells me this team is anything like that team. IMO, just looks like they are improving and will continue to get better with more time together. I think we definitely have enough to win at least 2 games in Madness. However, I know few top teams would wanna see this Texas team clicking on all cyclinders. Elite 8 is definitely possible if they play up to their ability on a consistent basis in the tourney.
