Hauling construction debris info needed.

My neighbors and I have both done some remodeling and construction/deconstruction lately. They have a ton more to haul off than I do. What is the best way to legally get rid of it. I say legal because if I pay somebody to take it away I prefer them to take it to the dump. I know their cost will include the 40 bucks or so to enter the dump and I have no problem with that.

Waste Management has those dumpsters they pull in front of your house but that is very expensive and it seems they rent by the week. Can anybody recommend a company or service they have used in the past? It is not an enormous amount but I would guess it would fill a pickup truck ten or more times, at least.

Neither of us have a vehicle powerful enough to get a rental trailer, load it and haul on our own.

Home Depot has what is called a Bagster. It's a VERY sturdy bag that you buy and fill up and then pay the service to come pick it up. I haven't used one, but they look like they could be a pretty cool deal. I have no idea the price, but they will hold a little over 3,000 pounds and are 3 cubic yards.

Thanks, I'll check into it. There is not an urgent time sensitive deadline for this. As long as something is rolling, plan wise, in the next week or so we are golden. There is still some demo to take place in both houses in the next few days.

It may be too late but some items can be recycled, but they have to separated. People will take good pieces of siding, lumber, used 2x4's, etc. Habitat for Humanity will take a lot of items, they even took 50 garbage bags full of insulation I hauled out of the attic. If you have enough good stuff, they will send a truck to pick it up. They take windows, fixtures, many items.
Otherwise, there are people with trailers who will haul your stuff off, but some of them go dump it on the side of the road. That is why they are cheap. Require a dump ticket before paying them the final 1/2 of the fee, or else you may find your stuff out on Sprinkle Cut-off Road or elsewhere, or the police may find it and give you a call. This is very common.

You have a dumpster, right? Just kidding. I have gotten a couple of great pm's from somebody and I think I have the solution. I am very aware of the ones that are cheap and dump on the side of the road. Being a "Leftie" I won't stand for that.

There is not much that is good if anything. All good lumber is being used. The house next door is very old and was not taken care of. There were layers of flooring atop one another and that old stuff is not good, very stinky and deteriorated. Mine is ripped out drywall. I am keeping the studs.

Aw yeah, I like to have a stud or two around at all times.

There are other places to dump stuff than the Austin dump, which has gotten pretty pricey. Some people take a trailer load to some other dump-maybe Williamson County (?).
If it is a load of brush, trees, limbs, etc, Wittlesley (sp) on IH-35 near Henna Boulevard will take it to make mulch out of. You might check to see what all they take there. There's still a fee, but cheaper than the regular landfill.

FYI, for 16' dump trailer full of shingles, we have to pay a LOT more than $ 40.00.

When things are running a bit slow or maybe for a Saturday late drop off & Monday early pick up, we can leave the trailer & haul your construction stuff for a lower $$ than what Waste Management charges & hold a LOT more than what the Bagster can handle both in weight & volume.

I think our rates (unsure because I arrange this through my crew leader) are about $ 75.00 more than the dump fees. After fuel & time, it's only a net profit of about $ 45.00 @ best.

This is a "you load it" scenario, BTW.

PM for info if interested.

Thanks but I think they found a good deal. For 160 tpta; they are having a guy drop off a large trailer big enough for the stuff. I had them ask him for dump tickets and he provided some as well as references. 100 is going to the dump. I am going to chip in 20 or 25 bucks since I don't have near as much stuff as they do.

We are going to BBQ, have some beers and some friends to help us chunk stuff in the trailer. Guy comes back Sunday to take it away.

I am sorry your sarcasm meter was broken and that you felt either guilty about something or just had a bad day.
