Has Baylor dropped its lawsuit threat?

I don't recall reading anything about Baylor dropping its lawsuit threat against aggy. But have they done so?

Starr has been awful quiet lately, I wonder if he is cooking up something.

Haven't heard anything definitive but I suspect that the addition of TCU eliminated the damages basis of the threatened lawsuit by BU against TAMU since the TV contracts would remain intact. Now with WVU joining and Mizzou probably leaving, the conference remains at 10 teams at least for the time being.

One might argue that TAMU's exit has actually benefited the "smaller" schools since the conference now has full equal sharing of Tier 1 & 2 tv revenues as a result of recent conference bylaws changes. BU, ISU, KSU, KU, TT, MU all will get more while UT and OU will get less. Not sure about OkSt since their tv exposure is rising. TCU is new to the conference so I didn't include them but surely they will get more revenue $$ than they did in the MWC or Big East just by being in a "better" conference.

Doesn't matter but technically they have not waived their right to sue. The Big 12 survived and the TV contracts were unaffected. There are no damages upon which to sue even if he wanted to and the grounds were already incredibly weak. The Big East certainly has far more grounds against the B12 for openly soliciting 2 of their members but they likely won't sue either.

Last I saw, the Aggies still have that "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's conference deal" sign in Waco, so I assume they have not dropped the lawsuit.

Hmph. Sure looked like it was still there, Oct 19 when we drove through Waco on our way to the funeral in Ok City for my WW II & Korean War Vet uncle.

The big legal question is the date Missouri can leave, and that depends on when West Virginia can begin play in the Big 12. Our TV contract states we can't drop below ten members. So, at this point, I don't see how the Big 12 can operate with the ten members they have now.

I believe only ou, OSU and Texas have waived their right to sue aggy and the SEC. As others have said the damages would be a decrease in revenue due to aggy and Missouri leaving the Big 12.

Baylor, Tech and the Kansas schools will protect their rights until everything shakes out. Of course if the Big 12 collects the $60 million in full due for these two leaving the B12, I suspect everything will be dropped. (And this may be a face saving way for aggy and Missouri to leave and not have to public ally settle with the non-waiving schools.)

Someone will correct me if this is incorrect but I believe Tech did sign the waiver. Only Baylor, KSU, KU and ISU refused to sign. I'm not sure why all the focus was on Baylor since they were only one of the four who refused. Perhaps it was Ken Star's publicity? From what I read Baylor never threatened to sue, they just refused to waiver the right to sue. aggy went ape **** on Baylor misstating the facts.

When you get your *** handed to you like aggy did to Baylor it's time to shut up anyway. I think everyone has even less interest in causing Mizzery problems because, well, they aren't aggy. There is no level of hate directed towards Mizzery as there has been against aggy. Baylor and UT have both played aggy for over 100 years so the divorce wasn't amicable.

I have read KU and KSU want blood from Mizzery.

The right to sue remains, but unless the TV contract falls through, there is not much to sue about. Had the Big XII imploded, and Baylor got left conference and TV deal-less, there would have been a large lawsuit. Assuming the Big XII rolls right on with a couple of new teams, Baylor won't need to sue anyone, nor will the other teams. It was all about losing the TV contract, or rather the potential of that happening.

But there's still the problem of what will happen during the 2013 season. Unless West Virginia can play in 2013, the Big 12 will be down to nine members.

^^^^^^^^^^

Now that might be cause for a reasonable suit by the 9 remaining conference members.....against Mizzou!

Or the B12 just rents a team for a year. a few million bucks to a team to keep the TV contracts intact.

Have no fear, WVU will play in the B12 iin 2012 if MU moves on. Neinas indicated that WVU will be a full member. No worries.

Seems like it it time to tell MU to **** or get off the pot! They caused this phase of the B12 unrest. I'd be inclined to show them the door.

Yeah, Neinas has nothing to do with the decision whether West Virginia can become a Big 12 member for the 2012 season. It will be decided by the Big East legal team. Look for litigation to decide when Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and West Virginia can legally enter their new conferences. The Big East has a TV contract to protect.
