Has anyone else joined Scout since Gerry Hamilton?

I joined up over at texas.scout.com after I found out that Gerry Hamilton had moved there.

I have been pleasantly surprised and am enjoying my membership there.

Has anyone else checked it out? I'd recommend it.

Yeah I joined a while ago. I am also a member of Orangebloods. Right now I think BOB > Orangebloods. I am still waiting for Ketch to hire someone to cover basketball.

As a noob who's been scrolling through this and other Horn sites for a while but not yet willing to jump into plunking down cash (as an old print newsdroid, my job could disappear at any moment), this little thread is of great interest to me. Which of the pay sites does the best with Horns football, especially the recruiting. Or are any of them actually helpful and insightful at all? Can I generally get everything on this and other message boards 15 minutes after it becomes news? That's kind of what it looks like. Am I wrong?

Anything that any of these pay services tell you regarding Longhorn recruiting either never comes to fruition or, when true, is on this board the next day.

I can wait one day for any recruiting news worth while.

Just my two cents.

Appreciate it, Speed. That's kind of what I figured. I've been enjoying this forum and Shaggy a lot over the past couple of months. Lots of interesting voices. (I realize I say that at the risk of sounding totally aggy.)

I've subscribed to all of the pay sites at one time or another. Gerry Hamilton (now at B.O.B.) is far and away the best on recruiting news.

While the identities of the recruits become known on the free boards fairly quickly, most of the "rest of the story" tidbits do not. So if you want the full story, B.O.B. would be the best place to get it.

I will probably join soon, but I doubt it can compare with OB...Chip Brown alone is worth the money at OB, not to mention the new addition of Jason Howell.

I don't think there has to be a choice really. If you are going to pay $100/yr why not $200 for all the info. I look at all the boards anyway, so I might as well join both.

orangebloods has gone downhill since ketchum tried to become a radio personality. guess he spent too much time getting comped nail jobs at el rey.

more like a social networking site than a UT sports site. the only reason i have a subscription is chip brown.

they seem to have no interest in UT baseball.

i've been considering taking the leap to burntorange beat for a while now....

For me, the biggest benefit of Orangebloods is the size of the community there and the connections they have. No matter what school a kid is from, there are going to be people who live there, some kids who go to school with him, etc. because OB has a such a large subscriber base.

Some of the best insight comes from other subscribers rather than the site reporters, including high school coaches.

I subscribe to BOB as well, but the forums and community there are far smaller.

Nope, I'll stick with Orangebloods and True Orange. Can't imagine Scout would give me anything more other than redundant information.
