Has anyone asked why

I'm sure I'll get flamed for second guessing the greatest coach of all time, but why didn't we pitch Jungmann against Purke? I know it really doesn't matter who pitches if we can't score. And I've heard it said the Jungmann doesn't do well without rest e.g. pitching relief on 1 or no days rest. So that reason for starting him in game 1 probably doesn't work. But still, I hate not going with our #1 against somebody else's #1 because it gives the appearance that we backed down in some way. Anybody else feel that way?

Augie says Taylor needed another days rest? Does it really matter? TCU won 2 of 3. In those 2 games they almost had Texas shutout. I think TCU should have had their own super regional, they are that good, they probably felt they were not getting the respect they deserve.

Had we won game one, we would have saved the rested and almost certain to win Youngman for game three, a huge advantage. If we lost game one, we use(d) Youngman in game two, and game three would be more of less a toss-up, as it was, unfortuneately.
I believe Augie did the same thing last year to good effect with Ruffin as the ace. But it didn't work out this year.

It's a shame you have to worry about being flamed. How'd that flame thread about the conference championship work out for everyone.

Don't fear the truth...

I think a better question was why start Walsh in game two, but not game three. Rowe had 2-3 very good opportunities to drive in a run from 3rd and unfortunately was hitting like he normally does.

Or how about the kid Paul M! That guy was clutch all year! Dont know about his glove though! Augie usally pulls the right string!

TCU made a great play on Moldy hitting it up the first base line early on Sunday with RISP. Too many RISP to not get some runs ini the first 5 innings. Clutch hits, especially with 2 outs, are a must for championship level play.

Too bad too, this team had the pitching. TCU was solid when they had to be and won it outright.

Texas lost the series b/c we couldn't hit in 2 of the 3 games. It had nothing to do with the rotation of the starting pitching. In fact all 3 pitchers did very well. Ruffin game up 2 late HRs in game 3 that ultimately cost the horns. Had he been able to keep it a 1 run game then Texas could have rallied.
