Harrison Barnes

Well, if he was coming to this part of the Big 12 - yeah.

If he was headed to ou or kansas, not so much.

I would have liked to see him at Iowa State, but I would still rather see him at OU than at UNC, or Duke. I believe a stronger Big 12 is better for Texas than a stronger ACC.

I am simply stating that I personally would rather have a basketball recruit that is not considering Texas go anywhere in the Big 12 - yes, even OU - instead of UNC, or Duke.

Outstanding young man, well spoken getting ready for his NBA's interviews, practice makes perfect.
UNC almost has a starting lineup for the next two years,Bullock is a great shooter and Marshall is a great PG pass first PG and Barnes at the 3 spot.

Having him in the Dirty dozen would only help UT and the conference. Good teams help recruits to decide to go to that conference and the coaching staff has to get out on the recruiting trail and develope relationships with players.

There are kids I don't mind coming to the conference just to make it better, for instance Mason-Griffin, Judge, Gallon, and Thomas Robinson. But Barnes is lightyears better than those guys, and I don't want to have to play against possibly the best player in the country, the moment he steps on a college court, three times in one year...

Competition makes us better, stronger. Barnes would have us play San Antonio if he could get a game. We need to play highly ranked teams like UNC,Kansas, Mich.St..Uconn, VNova and the one I want is the Dukies. I hope for 50-50 split with the ranked teams this year maybe better but they will be good games to test our team.

As a Duke alumnus, seeing Barnes go to UNC is tough. I'd have to say that in no way would I want our in-conference opponents to get that level of talent. You can get tough enough games scheduling OOC (as Barnes does). No reason to make life rougher in your conference tournament (see our luck with Kansas) right before the NCAAS. This isn't football where you have to really worry about your SoS or when Penders was pulling 15-18 wins so he was beefing up the schedule. We're almost annual contenders and it'll be great if we could co-dominate the Big 12.

Caught the last Duke/Texas game in Madison Square Garden. Texas lost but it was a treat.

Well the kid wasn't coming to Texas, so I would rather see him in the Big 12 than the ACC. Simple as that. Rick Barnes doesn't shy away from competition and I would like to think he would agree with me on this. I'll have to ask him the next time I see him.

And I would like to beat Kansas (and everybody else in conference) more often. Simple as that.....

When I went off to law school at Duke I never understood why the Big Ten, PAC 10 and ACC folks rooted for each other. @#$@ that, I want A&M and OU to lose all the time (maybe it was a SWC thing.....).

Are you happy when A&M wins a NC? I'm not (even if it's in golf). Why would you want your bitter rivals to accumulate more talent?

And if you conveniently forgot, Barnes left Clemson because he was tired of the recruiting advantage that Duke and UNC had in the ACC. Maybe his mind has changed here since he has a recruiting advantage in the Big 12 (maybe I'll ask my classmate Jay Bilas his thoughts on that).
