Harmon's Barbeque - Cibolo, TX

This loosely qualifies as "around Austin," but if Cooper's in Llano is appropriate, so is this. With all the que threads making their way back to the top of this board, I felt compelled to pimp Harmon's in Cibolo.

I had the brisket, pork ribs, and sausage combo (I like to try all the standards when hitting a place for the first time), and all were very good. I suspect that the sausage is brought in from elsewhere, but it was still good (similar to what you get at The Salt Lick). Purists who prefer a dry crumbly sausage (think City Market) may be disappointed. The brisket had an excellent balance of lean and fat content, and held it's moisture and taste throughout the meal. The ribs were some of the best I've had. The sides were edible, but nothing to write home about (who cares about sides anyway).

They have a small satellite location across the street from the Alamo, but I'm pretty sure that they truck in the eats from Cibolo. In the San Antonio area, I put them right up there with BBQ Patio, a few notches above BBQ Station. I would not say that it is quite up to par with Coopers or City Market, but it is close, and it is more than good enogh to tide me over if I don't want to make the drive for the very best. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth checking out.

I just so happen to be in SA for a conference, staying about 2 minutes from the Alamo. I shall try this establishment that you speak of. Barbecue is yummy.

I have not tried their downtown location, but if it's close to the quality of their main joint, you should not be disappointed.
