Hardwood Floors

House was built in the 40's and the hardwood floors are in good condition. I have linoleum in the bathroom and kitchen.

I just noticed that my toilet most likely has been leaking at the base and has caused a large discoloration under the linoleum.

Would it be wise to rip up the linoleum and keep hardwood floors in the bathroom? Also thinking about ripping it up in the kitchen since the dog has already started on it.

Rip up the linoleum and have a tile guy come in. Constant wet/dry will mess up the bathroom floor pretty fast if they aren't already rotten.

How about the kitchen, does anyone have hardwood floors there, I think I kind of like that idea.

I have hardwood in the kitchen with no problems. My house was built in 1948.

Hardwood floors are fine in the kitchen. Just make sure it is sealed properly and you use the right kind of mop on it. Never let water stand on it. In the bathroom, go with the ceramic tile, but make sure they install the tile board on top of the existing floor.

We have hardwoods in the kitchen too. No problems w/ that, but definitely not in the bathroom.
