Hard Drive in the PS2

My friend hooked up a hard drive in his PS2 using the network adapter on the back. He had about 10 games saved on the HD and they load faster and you don't have to use memory cards to save. Anyone know how to do this or what kind of HD to use? ( This was a friend of a friend and his number has changed)...

My brother has this on his Xbox. He paid someone else to do it and it runs great, he just gets games from Game Fly and burns them onto his hard drive. He has about 200 games on there.

I have not heard of anyone doing it on a US PS2. I have heard of it on a Japan version.
