T'was a great day...in the evening, I did my usual thang. Drank Guinness dark beer and watched John Wayne in "The Quiet Man."

My SPD tradition is to watch Finian's Rainbow (1968)*, the screen version of the stage musical (which debuted in the late 1940s), directed by Francis Ford Coppola (!) and featuring the delightful dancing of Fred Astaire, the delightful singing of Petula Clark, the annoying scenery chewing of the damn-near out-of-control of Tommy Steel, the delightful dancing of Barbara Hancock (her debut on the big screen), and Keenan Wynn wearing blackface throughout most of the movie (although it looks more like a very serious suntan).

*really, I only watch parts of it. It's 2 hrs 21 min long (complete with a pre-credits overture and an intermission, FFS). The best way to watch this is on DVR and to skip over just about everything between the musical numbers. And with refreshments consisting of gin & tonics.
