Hansbrough returning for UNC

The link to Lawson has him projected as mid to late first round. In my opinion DJ is a better pro prospect, but does anyone know if that is the general consensus?

How is this good for college basketball? Do you like hearing the commentators kiss the *** of the most overrated player in history every ******* game?

Who winds up as preseason #1 should depend on who gets the late signing recruits and which teams have players withdraw from the draft.

KU had Chalmers declare. Hasn't signed with an agent. Arthur and Rush are gone for sure.

Memphis can say bye-bye to Rose and CDR, and they had Dozier and Anderson also declare, but those last two might return.

UNC had Lawson and Ellington declare. Neither have signed with an agent.

UCLA has Westbrook (no agent yet, but he's gone) and Love leaving. Mbah a Moute declared, but hasn't hired an agent and might come back. Collison hasn't announced his decision yet.

If Ellington and Lawson come back, I would see UNC being voted preseason #1. If those guys leave, I can see Texas getting it, even with DJ leaving, especially if Brown qualitifes and a Mr. Ebanks or a Mr. Witherspoon decides to come to Austin.

But who cares? I want results in March and April, not accolades in October.

This is a great move for him, because I just don't see him being a big time NBA player. A nice role player to have in the 2nd or 3rd string.

He gets to enjoy another year of college at UNC, where he's the big man on campus. Another year of ESPN sucking on him too.

I'm glad for the sport that he has decided to come back. Even if he doesn't have much of a career in the NBA as many of you say, he will have had a stellar college career. Wish there were more players like him that lay it out every second of every game.

Above all, he'll have a degree.

His dad is an orthopedic surgeon and he has a chance to rewrite the record books at UNC. And with the NBA taking guys so early, he could leave his mark on those record books forever (possibly).

Madscientist...guess I didn't provide a link to him having a degree. My guess is that he will have a degree if he is going to stay through his senior year. All I can say is that I wish more college players would make the same decision as him. College basketball, IMHO, is much more exciting than pro basketball.

TheFied, I agree with you that he will have many UNC records and likely many ACC records before he leaves.

If I were a coach, I would hope to have a couple of Hansbrough-types on my team.

Too bad his teammates are leaving early. Won't give him as much to come back with and have a real shot at winning the title.

Even if Lawson stays in the draft, they still have Frasor coming back from injury and Drew coming in to play PG. They will have the best depth of any front court in the nation along with Ellington and Green on the wing (both guys will probably return).
