Hancock golf course

it's worth playing if you're a poor student, if you aren't very good at golf, or if you plan on bringing a 12-pack of beer and simply want to knock it around with your friends.

Otherwise, it sucks

Hancock has carts but it easily walkable

I've got a cousin who wants to play golf Saturday morning, but doesn't have time for 18. We both suck, so this is probably the way to go.

I am really ****** at golf, so I go to Hancock, since I don't want to pay a lot to suck ***.

It is a crappy course, though. No doubt.

goat track
$9.50 to walk 9 on weekends, 8.50 weekdays.

I like 1 - 5, and 9. 6,7,8 are boring.

If they had grass in the fairways I'd probably play a lot more. If you can't walk it you deserve to park handicap.

I grew up playing that course. 30 cents for nine, 60 for 18.
the other nine was where Hancock Center is now, I believe. I think the course is over 100 years old.

Used to be Austin Country Club, actually. Hancock is good for a number of things - when my short game starts to suffer, I"ll go out to Hancock with a 4 iron, 9 iron and a putter, and play 9 or 18. Only having two clubs makes you get creative, and you can work on touch and feel. Also, because the greens are so hard, you can just lob the ball at the stick the whole time - you have to actually play the course a little bit. No, it's no TPC, but it's FUN, #9 green notwithstanding.

I love Hancock. One of my favorite memories is skipping my afternoon classes in law school and getting in nine holes. Or getting in nine holes before class.

I read once that it was the first (public?) course west of the Mississippi. I have no idea if that's true or not.

Harvey Penick used to caddie there. So there's some history.

I definitely agree a good time can be had there. As I mentioned, especially if the main intention is to simply hang with your buddies and drink a few beers while knocking it around.

However, if you're looking for a real course to play on there are many other options
