Had to remove a 100 year old American Elm tree

from my front yard today. Man, does my house look different.

Lost about 1/2 of it in an ice storm last winter, lost another 1/4 of what was left when it leafed out this spring, and it decided to get dutch elm disease last month.

Probably have over $3500 in this tree in the last 12 months. It's still kinda sad though.
 
That sucks, I don't know too much about trees, but I do know that American Elms can get huge.

I took down an Arizona Ash in my front yard a few years back and planted a Bur Oak sapling in its place. I got it free from treefolks.org...if you live in Austin, consider this route for tree replacement.
