long time ago someone put together a lineup of UT players if no one left early. I should have saved it but now am requesting the same. I'm looking for one with Durant/Aldridger/Augustin/Gibson and their years (SR, JR, SO, FR) in this hypothetical. Any other good players like a James, Abrams should be included as well as 2nd stringers. Off the team should be players who would not have signed with UT if these stars had remained.

Can someone also do this for other top schools - I'm thinking UConn and NC in partincular.

I'll shoot for Texas...

Starters:

PG: D.J. Augustin (Fr)
SG: Daniel Gibson (Jr)/C.J. Miles (So)
SF/PF: Kevin Durant (Fr)
SF/PF: P.J. Tucker (Sr)
C: LaMarcus Aldridge (Jr)

2nd String:

PG: A.J. Abrams (So)
SG: C.J. Miles (So)/Daniel Gibson (Jr)
SF: Damion James (Fr)
PF: Connor Athley (So)
C: Dexter Pittman (Fr)

Reserves:

SG: Justin Mason (Fr)
C: Matt Hill (Fr)

And yes, to answer your question that would easily be the best basketball team of all time. Actually, it would be the best team of any sport of all time. Sadly, there was no real chance that this would have happened. I was surprised that P.J. and Daniel left, but LA was gone before the season even started.

BTW, many think Gibson would have been the 2 guard on that team, but IMO C.J. Miles would have probably been a better player in college at least. Either way, we have by far the best backcourt in the country. Best frontcourt too...Probably the best two players as well (easily the best, in Durant's case). 3rd or 4th best PG, and the 3rd or 4th SF in Tucker. Undefeated without a doubt, unless somebody gets hurt. We probably would have won every game by an average of 25+ points, not really fair. It's fun to dream about, but teams like that just don't happen anymore

Wake Forest would have an amazing line up. If someone cares to do that one, I bet it would be hard to find one better than that. They have always had great guys that left early. Especially in the 90's and early 00's.

thanks GHG90.

I'm tempted to take your lineup and add 1 year. We would sacrifice the loss of PJ Tucker but the unreal improvement in the others would more than make up for it. LA as a SR, Durant/Augustin as SO. Very nice quality size.

Yeah, probably worth it as Damion would have been better (though probably not as good as last year), and Gary would be on the team as well...

I know Wake would have had Chris Paul, but I don't recall them losing anybody else...?
