Guitar Questions

Just stop into a used guitar shop and price a LP. It is amazing what they sell for. I saw 5 last week in a used shop, none of them in another above just good position. One of them has severe buckle rash on the back with cigarette burns on on the head stock (and not the kind that Guitar Center does to 'age' them). Anywhere from a late 70s through and early 90s and none of them was less than $1,200. I usually see more Les Pauls than Strats for some reason.

quick side note - the Parker P-36 (tele style parker) that I loaned to my friend is being filmed for a Southwest Airlines commercial today

I'm pretty sure this means I'm never getting the damn thing back.

Wow, never thought this thread would take on a life of its own.

Picked up the Vox today in Austin, got home and fired it up with my Acoustic/elect Tak. Holy smokes, effects are incredible but have not figured out how to get a clean sound yet. Don't laugh, I am downloading the manual and going to actually read it.

Told you I was a neophyte.
On the Tele, I have looked everywhere and seems what has been said lately is true, you do not get a price break on these unless some damage that to me with the slight discount is not worth it. I have found a place here in Houston that claims will sell me an Amer Tele for $700 AND lifetime adjustments. To my unpracticed ear that is sounding really good.
I have to tell you I cannot wait to plug a new guitar into this amp, I can hear La Grange in my sleep, and Funk 49 rocking the windows (in the pathetic version I can crank out). Long live the old Rock and Roll.
BTW, Horns were awesome last night.

I lived in Galveston for 10 yrs and did my guitar shopping in Houston. My 2 favorite shops were Evans Music and Rockin' Robbins. Not sure if they are still there or if any new consumer-friendly shops have sprung up. Good luck with your new amp.

Getting a 'clean' sound from that Tak, played through that Vox or any 'electric' amp is going to tough. The problem is the pickups in your acoustic, not the amp. That is why you can buy 'acoustic' amps.

You are going to be blown away when you plug in a true electric guitar to that Vox. Like I mentioned above, on the back of the Vox is an output power knob that essentially lets you lower the wattage without losing the tone, so you can turn the knobs on the front to 11, and power down the wattage knob on the back to get some fantastic overdrive outta that baby without bothering the neighbors.
