Guadalupe River Camping Help

I am looking for recommendations for a place to camp on the Guadalupe or Comal rivers. I want to be able to grill and drink some beer without being bothered by game wardens or park rangers. (no state parks) Also, plan to float the next morning so the closer to the tube rental places, the better. Thanks for the help.

Yeah. I saw the midnight curfew thing after the fact. However, I would bet that after drinking beer all day in the sun, I will probably be passed out by that time. If I am not, I am sure the missus and I can figure something out to do to pass the time.

Went to that campsite I mentioned this past weekend. It was very nice. Our campsite was on the river underneath a grove of trees. As far as the curfew thing goes, I can tell you that it is not enforced at all. The first night we were there, people were partying for a long time. On Saturday, I think that the day-long drinking and hanging out in the sun zapped most of the people. Anyway, I would recommend it.

Bergheim Campgrounds in Bergheim Texas is about 35 minutes further away from Austin than Rocking R, but much nicer. Fewer people on that stretch of the river and close enough to the Feed Store in Luckenbach to make it worth it.

You are actually above the Rocking R and very few people used to know about it or bother making the drive. I've tubed it with friends completely naked and never saw another group of folks. Just cows and wild flowers lining the river.

Lazy L&L
Mountain Breeze Camp

Both are located on the Guad. I've never camped at either of these places but I do alot of fishing in the area and these places seem nice and have lots of room for camping and areas to grill, etc.
