gta IV a dissapointment?

They hyped the game up so much that I didn't even expect it to live up to being that good, but I still thought it would be amazing. So far, however, I haven't been that impressed with it. Maybe I'm not far enough along in it yet but I would think I should be by now. I think the videos at the start of missions are way too long. I don't have time to watch a 5 minute video before every mission. But if I skip the video I can't follow the story very well. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good game. But for how much it was hyped up I think it's been a real dissapointment so far. Does anyone else feel this way or do I need to just keep playing the game and get farther into it? The last thing I did was to kill some guy at the train station for Faustin or whatever his name is.

Eh...the game is awesome.

Like anything in life there are obvious areas that could be improved...but the amount of detail and depth in this game in amazing. You can drive around for hours and do all sorts of fun ****...i like it.

I, for one, enjoy the stories.

I love the new GTA game, but I do have a few complaints about it, mainly

- no flying planes
- no parachute
- no buying companies / properties
- no drive by / turf wars
- no moving up and taking power

The game is awesome. You have only done like 5 missions and if you don't have 5 minutes to watch the videos then you shouldn't be playing GTA at all.

Come back to COD4. I still can't get enough of it. I haven't tried GTA4, but will get it soon. Hope it holds up to the hype.

GarCiaRia-- the first night i got GTA4 i wound up going back to the new maps on Call of Duty after a few hours. It's been back and forth since then.

I think I really enjoy CoD4

The script on this game is amazing... If you don't have five minutes to pay attention to the "movies", you shouldn't be playing a "roamer".

I agree though, you're not far enough into it. The character development is pretty bad *** in and of itself.

The only thing I dislike about it is your control when walking and driving (at least on the 360)...

I liked vice city the best, especially the sweet soundtrack. told myself I won't open gtaiv until I beat that last damn mission on san andreas.

I kind of agree with the intro movies being too long. I think 30-45 seconds should be enough to explain a mission. One of my problems with the movies is that the characters are still very cartoonish, they have a lot of awkward movement similar to the previous GTA games. I was hoping this would be improved, because other games like CoD4 and Rainbow Six are very lifelike on the next-gen systems.

I disagree with the notion that you shouldn't be playing the game if you don't want to sit through the videos. This is a video game and I want to be actively doing something, not just watching a bunch of animations tell a story. I expect to drive around in stolen cars, shoot up gangsters, pick up hookers, and run from the cops. The GTA games are usually pretty fast paced, and watching long animations starts to break up that momentum. If I wanted to watch a movie about crime, I'd just rent Goodfellas or The Departed.

Alright well I agree I did use the wrong term for the videos. I don't have the patience to watch the full videos. And I'm very dissapointed that you can't buy property in this one.
