Growing a Serrano plant

Anyone have any tips for me. I recently realized how much I love serranos, so I bought the plant. The lady at the nursery told me that I didnt need a huge pot or anything, and told me an 8" pot would be sufficient. I bought two plants, and put them both in the 8" pot. Everything seems to be going fine, but Im just surprised I didnt need a larger pot. (I read that the plants can grow to be 5 ft tall)

Anyway, if all is well, how long until I can expect to have full size serranos. At this point, I have 4 little serranos (longest being about 1 inch long). Are you supposed to eat them once they are about 2 inches long?

Serranos generally can be harvested when they reach 2 to 3 inches, just be sure that the skin doesn't start wrinkling. Personally, if I was growing peppers in containers, I'd opt for at least a 12" pot just so they wouldn't become rootbound.

So, do you think that they'll be ok in my 8" pot? Also, I have read that they should be watered frequently....what exactly does this mean? I was under the impression that it was possible to water TOO much..True or False?

Since they're already setting peppers out, the 8" pot will probably be fine for this batch.
Yes, you can overwater vegetable plants. Peppers are usually pretty drought tolerant as a rule, but they adapt to a regular watering cycle quite well.
The 8" pots won't require too much water, though, so be careful not to drench them when you do water. Every other day should keep 'em going, depending on the type of soil you have them in. The website I gave you has some good pointers for planting, etc., so I'd follow those suggestions as well as those from a reputable master gardener.

I have found that peppers just grow, esp serranos. Should be totallye asy if u have enough sun. They grow well up here in Yankeeland.
